Did you know that Pete's Greens delivers their organic veggies to RecFit every Wednesday? You can join their Good Eats CSA any time and start receiving your own box of Vermont-fresh produce here every week or every other week.

Their current shares are packed with weekly salad greens plus a great assortment of veggies such as Spinach, Salad Mix, Chard, Red Russian Kale, Sorrel, Carrots, Potatoes, Cabbage, and Parsley. And with spring approaching, they’ll soon have herbs like Dill and Basil, Arugula, Cucumbers, Fresh Bunched Onions, and Green Garlic (if you’ve never had green garlic, you’ve got to try it!) In the summer, we look forward to their Strawberries, Tomatoes, Beans, Broccoli, Zucchini, Peppers, Eggplant, Corn, and New Potatoes, in addition to their Lettuces and Leafy Greens.

Pickup is super easy - you just come to RecFit (49 Perkins St), find the box with your name on it, and take it home to enjoy the fresh, Vermont NEK-grown goodness.

Their CSA is flexible and convenient - it’s year-round, so you can join at any time. There are three sizes of veggie shares to choose from, as well as optional add-ons like eggs, milk, and cheese, as well as local artisan products and staples like flour, beans, and oats. You can change your share type at any time; skip deliveries if you are away; add on items from their online store, and more. You choose your payment plan amount. SNAP/EBT accepted.

Celebrate International Women’s Day this Sunday by rowing, skiing, or biking 5,000 meters (10,000 meters for biking) at RecFit between 10AM and Noon for a good cause!

Concept2 will donate $5 per participant, up to $20,000, split equally among WomenSport International, The Pad Project, and Girls on the Run Vermont.

You will need to download the Concept2 ErgData app prior to your workout and be sure to bring your phone on Sunday.

Joe Fox will be at the gym Sunday from 10-Noon to help get you connected and make sure your effort is counted.

Join us in celebrating International Women's Day on March 8th by participating in our International Women's Day Challenge! To sign up, opt in on the Concept2 Logbook, and row or ski a 5000m piece (10,000m on the BikeErg) on March 8th. All individuals are open to participate. Every January, as the director of RecFit, I watch a familiar pattern unfold. New members pour through the doors, energized by New Year’s resolutions and good intentions. By February, many of those faces have disappeared. The problem is not motivation; it is expectation. New Year’s resolutions should not expire after a few weeks. Real change does not come from one oversized, unrealistic goal. It comes from building habits—small, repeatable actions that compound month after month.

James Clear captures this idea well in Atomic Habits: you should be far more concerned with your trajectory than your current results. Progress matters. Consistent actions sustained over twelve months create real, lasting change.

As a football coach, this is exactly how we prepare our players—not just for game day, but for life. We emphasize habits: how you train, how you recover, how you treat your teammates, and how you show up every day when no one is watching. Those behaviors define outcomes far more than a single workout, practice, or season ever could.

I turn 61 today, and I feel better now than I did half my life ago. That did not happen by accident. It happened by committing to the fundamentals and repeating them consistently over time.

Exercise is often called the “magic pill,” and for good reason. It strengthens the heart, muscles, and bones, improves circulation, and helps regulate blood sugar. It also plays a powerful role in mental health—reducing stress, improving mood, and increasing energy and focus. Unlike most medications, exercise has very few negative side effects when done safely and consistently. That said, exercise alone is not enough. Proper nutrition, adequate sleep, and hydration are equally essential parts of the equation.

As you look ahead to 2026, commit to a healthier lifestyle rooted in habits you can sustain. Focus on consistency over intensity. Build routines you can repeat. And when you find something that works, lead by example—bring others along with you. That is how real progress is made, on the field and in life.
