🌲 TRAIL MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP — KENNEBEC DISTRICT 🥾

Want to learn more about trail maintenance? Ever wondered how a bog bridge is built? Here’s your chance to get hands-on experience while helping maintain the Appalachian Trail!

Join Ed and Sherri Langlais on Saturday, August 29th at 8:00 AM at the Monson General Store in Monson.

🛠️ What you’ll be doing:
• Carrying lumber
• Some digging and leveling
• Replacing old bridging
• Learning the basics of trail maintenance and bog bridge construction

📍 The trail section is in Monson with very little elevation gain and no more than a 45-minute walk to the work area.

👥 Volunteers needed: 4–6 people

🎒 What to bring:
• Gloves
• Boots
• Helmet
• Water
• Lunch

🌧️ Rain date: Sunday, August 30th

Registration for the 14th Northeastern Alpine Stewardship Gathering (NEASG) is now open! Follow this link: https://www.watermanfund.org/northeastern-alpine-stewardship-gathering/ on the Waterman Fund website to secure your spot.

NEASG will be held on Oct. 29-31, 2026 at the Sugarloaf Resort in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, hosted by the Maine Appalachian Trail Club with support from the Waterman Fund. NEASG is the premier conference for alpine science, stewardship, and the arts in the Northeast, and the only one of its kind where researchers, land managers, educators, students, and writers come together to share and celebrate their work to protect the alpine ecosystems of the Northeast.
