A big thank you to L.L.Bean for supporting our Appalachian Trail Ridgerunners! Their generous funding and quality gear donations help keep our field staff safe, comfortable, and prepared for life on the Trail. From May through October, the Maine Appalachian Trail Club (MATC) and Appalachian Trail Conservancy will have two Ridgerunners in the 100 Mile Wilderness and two in the high peaks of western Maine. These dedicated stewards serve as on-trail and summit educators, ambassadors, and caretakers, engaging with hikers every day to share backcountry knowledge, skills, and ethics. We’re grateful for partners like L.L.Bean who help make this important work possible.

An incredible group of 16 volunteers assembled at Wilson Valley lean-to yesterday to take part in a campsite workshop and various projects. They accomplished basic maintenance plus a lot of extra tasks: stabilizing the slope behind the lean-to, re-blazing the side trails, cutting a new trail to the privy, staining the privy, cleaning out the fire pit, and hauling out the old privy. Many hands made lighter work indeed! Thank you again to all who came out 🙏🏻 🥾 🌲
