That deep soreness that tends to peak around day two after a hard workout is called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). It’s your body responding to the stress of training and adapting to rebuild stronger. Especially after leg day, 48 hours is usually where reality checks in… and it an be be humbling!

Soreness alone isn’t the goal, but challenging your muscles, recovering properly, (eat your protein, sleep and sunshine) and staying consistent is where growth happens!

Muscle changes everything.

When I first started, I thought the goal was just to weigh less. Smaller number = better, right? Not always. What actually changed my physique and overall health was building lean muscle mass. I am actually 30 lbs heavier in the photo on the right.

Here’s the truth most women aren’t told:

Lean muscle is what gives you shape.
It’s what creates curves, not just “skinniness.”
It’s what makes your body look tight, strong, and athletic instead of soft or the dreaded “skinny fat”.

And it’s not just about looks

More muscle = higher metabolism, regulated hormones and overall energy improvement.
The most surprising change for me was better skin and less painful periods! (Crazy right?!)

Higher muscle mass means:
You burn more calories doing absolutely nothing.
You handle life’s challenges better when you are more confident in your body.
You feel stronger, more energized, and more confident to try new things!

Stop chasing the scale like it’s the end goal. It’s outdated thinking. Start chasing strength. Start building muscle. That’s where the real transformation happens.

And no, you’re not going to “get bulky.” You’re going to look like you actually care for your body.

ZONE Fitness Clubs— this chapter will always have my heart.

What began as a job became a place that shaped me just as much as I helped shape others. Day after day, I watched people walk through these doors carrying stress, doubt, and exhaustion and slowly learn how strong they truly are. That never gets old.

Coaching here wasn’t just about workouts. It was about trust. About showing up on the hard days. About celebrating wins that had nothing to do with the scale. I’m endlessly grateful to every member who let me be part of their journey. You showed up, you pushed through, and you changed. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.

To the Zone Fitness community: thank you for the support, the laughter, the sweat, and the sense of family. This place gave me more than I could ever give back, and I’ll carry it with me into everything I do.

As I step into my next adventure, I do so with a full heart and a clear purpose. The lessons, the relationships, and the growth from this chapter have prepared me for what’s ahead.

Legacy isn’t about staying forever.
It’s about leaving something better than you found it, and I pray that I have left a legacy of light and laughter.
