Pineland Farms

Pineland Farms Pineland Center in New Gloucester, Maine was established in 1908 to serve as a home for the mentally handicapped of Maine.

Located in the rolling hills of New Gloucester, Maine, PINELAND FARMS is a working farm, diverse business campus and educational and recreational venue that welcomes visitors to enjoy its beautiful rural landscape. At the time of its official closing in 1996, Pineland consisted of a 28-building campus and 1600-plus acres. A large part of the acreage consisted of farmland which had at one time been

cultivated to sustain the needs of the Center's staff and residents. Through its real estate branch, October Corporation, the Libra Foundation of Portland, Maine purchased the Pineland campus and approximately 900 acres of farmland in June 2000. Since that time, extensive renovation, new construction and additional land purchases have brought both the campus and the farms back to life. The Foundation's vision for the campus is to create a unique community by attracting a variety of non-profit and for-profit businesses, organizations and services to lease space in the buildings. Tenants enjoy amenities on the campus such as a conference center, cafeteria and Outdoor & Fitness Center, as well as access to the farm programs and facilities. The farms have been developed as a self-sustaining nonprofit organization known as Pineland Farms, Inc. Our mission is to enrich Maine’s communities by offering immersive educational opportunities related to agriculture and the natural environment, providing time and space for artists and students to develop their creativity, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle through recreation and the outdoors.

At the beginning of the disc golf season, we announced our intention to upgrade the tee pads on the Patriot course from pavers to concrete, like the Commander course tee pads. The concrete truck has been scheduled and will arrive this Friday (9/8) to pour the new pads. We have prep work to do on the frames, before the pour, but we will be keeping the course open until Friday. If you decide to play Patriot this week, you may need to throw your drive from next to the pad, not on it. Once the concrete is in, the course will be closed for one week, opening back up for play on 9/18. The other courses will remain open through this time. Thanks for your patience and cooperation during this transition!

Meet the Author: Theresa Allocca (free event)
9/11/26 11:30am-2pm

Meet Author Theresa L. Allocca & Discover Circle of Friends
Join retired school counselor and Maine author Theresa L. Allocca for a special book signing at Pineland Farms Market. Drawing on 23 years of supporting children and families—and her own rural Maine roots—Theresa brings authenticity and heart to her storytelling.

In Circle of Friends, when a child arrives at the ER bearing scars, Tess Collaretti turns to her close-knit quilting circle. What begins as a search for justice soon uncovers evidence of something far more dangerous than they imagined. With friendship, courage, and a touch of Maine spirit, this compelling story will keep you turning pages.

Want a signed copy? Books will be available for purchase at Pineland Farms Market. You can also reserve your copy in advance or purchase one at the time of the event and have it signed by Theresa!

Come meet the author, discover Circle of Friends, and be part of this special book-signing event.

Pineland Farms random draw doubles hit two milestones last Sunday. We had more participants than any other Sunday this year with 14 players! This is also the first time this year the ace pot has reached over $100. It now sits at $103!

At the end of 18 holes, 4 out of 7 teams finished with a -8(56)! This led to a surprisingly short playoff. 2 teams were eliminated on hole 1 and the winner was decided on hole 2. Liam Reynolds and Ryan Donnelly earned $34 each beating Chuck Gannon and Matt McLean who also walked away with $15 apiece.

CTPS included $28 cash (won by Liam), $10 Market gift card, a Lone Star "Middy", a bag of "The 19th hole" snack mix and a set of pencil torches with butane.

With Maine States fast approaching, let's have another round of doubles on the Patriot! After paying for your round in the market or honor box, meet us Sunday morning at 9am, hole 1 of Patriot with $10 cash for prizes and payouts ($7 winners, $2 cash CTP, $1 Ace). All are welcome to join. Let's see if we can get 16 this week. We hope to see you there!

Oak Hill and Commander will be closed this weekend for Back 40 Event’s Last Man Standing Ultra Marathon. 9/5- 9/7

We are planning on closing Commander and the Oak Hill trail system this weekend. There will be an ultra-marathon happening. There will be a large number of runners on the trails as they try and compete in winning the title of Last Man Standing. They have to run roughly a 4 mile loop every hour until they cannot keep going or until the last person is running. All other trails will be open along with our Patriot and Minuteman disc golf courses.

For questions or comments please contact The Market at (207) 688-4539.
