Your athlete's email wasn't ignored. It just had nowhere to go.

Here's what happens on the coach's side. The email lands. The coach looks your athlete up: name, grad year, position. If there's no questionnaire and no profile in their recruiting system, there's often no reply.

Your athlete only sees the silence and decides the coach didn't even look.

So flip the order. First the recruiting questionnaire on the school's soccer page. Then the email, with film and their next games.

The coach who recruited your athlete just took another job. Now everyone at the dinner table is thinking the same thing: is the spot gone?

Here's the hard part. A new coach doesn't inherit the old promises. They bring their own plan and their own list.

The biggest mistake I see is waiting. Your athlete sends the email first, shares their newest film and asks where they fit. And they keep other doors open, because one coach should never be the whole plan.

Give God your nerves, your expectations, and the outcome you’re trying so hard to control. Ask for courage to compete, humility to learn, and a heart that encourages the people around you.

Your effort matters. Your preparation matters. But your worth has never depended on the scoreboard.

Play hard, be grateful for the opportunity, and trust Him with what comes next. 🤎

Playing well and showing up to showcases still needs to be paired with consistent outreach, strong film, intentional follow-ups, and a school list that actually fits your athlete.

Your athlete is still being evaluated when the ball leaves their feet.

Do they recover after losing possession? Reset after a mistake? Encourage a teammate when they’re frustrated themselves?

Those moments tell coaches what kind of player they’d be bringing into their program. Build those habits at every practice so they show up on game day.

Start with the things you can do this season:

✔️ Encourage consistent training outside of team practice
✔️ Help your athlete build confidence and take ownership
✔️ Capture game film along the way
✔️ Learn about the recruiting process before it’s time to make big decisions

Your athlete doesn’t need to do everything at once. They just need support and a plan for their next step.

Parents, your athlete can dream big AND keep their options open. ⚽️

I see too many athletes focus on a handful of dream schools and overlook programs where they could thrive, on the field, in the classroom, and financially.

Build a school list with purpose. Research the programs, look at the whole picture, and then encourage your athlete to reach out and follow up with coaches.

Because the best fit might be a school they haven’t discovered yet.

Getting subbed off doesn’t mean coaches stop watching. 👀

Do you sulk on the bench? Shut down? Make it obvious you’re unhappy?

Or do you stay locked in, cheer for your teammates, and stay ready for your next opportunity?

Talent gets you noticed. Your response when things don’t go your way tells coaches more about who they’d be adding to their team.

You can’t control every minute you play. You CAN control the body language you bring to every minute.
