DEMOLITION OF HISTORIC STRUCTURES IN NEW RIVER GORGE NATIONAL PARK TO BEGIN IN NOVEMBER
The National Park Service plans to begin demolishing several historic structures in the Thurmond and Prince areas of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in November 2026 as part of a federally funded infrastructure project.
The structures currently identified for demolition are:
* Charles Ashley Outbuilding
* Charles Ashley Garage
* May Bagoski House
* Harold Smith House
* Sidney Allen Wood House
* Erskine Pugh Rental House
* James Humphrey Sr. House
* McClung Garage
* McClung/Meadows House
* Prince Brothers General Store
* Camp Brookside Pool Chemical Building
* Wadell Young House
The agency said some buildings (except for the ones listed above) could still be preserved if viable proposals are received before demolition begins.
