Just want to get a little more information out there for you all.
Most of the mileage has been taken, but there are a few fields that are still in and that has been the main issue this year. The farmers are moving quickly around the enduro area and have told us that the fields related to the enduro will be off before the weekend. We are still a go and we look forward to seeing everyone.
We lost access to a few woods, but thanks to an extremely generous land owner we gained a new woods section that is an absolute blast to ride, gives you more views of Turkey Creek, and links us back into a woods area we have not been in for 15 years. Most all the trail has been ridden and it is great trail. A lot of fun.
As with any other year, we have been getting questions about plates and lights on the bikes. We have on our flyer for the Sunday event that headlight, taillight, and plates are required. As long as the bike appears legal we try not to be jerks about it. That said, it has been brought to my attention that motocross bikes have ridden the enduro without any attempt to add lights or comply with the flyer. We have a great relationship with our local law enforcement and we want to keep it that way. Producing an enduro now days is very difficult. It always has it's challenges. We do not need the law enforcement taking issue and tightening the clamps so to speak. If you have come to our enduro in past years you can expect the same other than bikes with no lights will not leave the start. They shouldn't have last year or years prior, but sometimes we miss things in the hurry of it all. A legitimate light like a light bar fastened to the front may pass at the start crew's descretion. A flashlight duct taped to a mx numberplate (we have seen it in the past) will not fly. At least appear that you tried to be legal. Now if a rider is pulled over (which we have had for guys riding wheelies and other activities on the public roadways) it is on that rider if they are not legal. We're just trying to keep the enduro going for as many years as we can. If you don't want to go through the effort there are hare scrambles and motocross tracks out there. We also are having a Non Scored class in the family enduro Saturday which means you ride the two loops, but you are not scored, do not receive points, and do not get a trophy. Lights and plates are not required for the family enduro.
Enough about that. The weekend looks beautiful. Looks like great temps and conditions. It should be an outstanding ride either day. The club has had it's back against the wall this year with challenges, but it will just make the bench racing afterwards feel that much better.
