Ensign Class Association

Ensign Class Association Here to promote the Ensign Class Association, Sailing and Sail boat Racing. The Ensign Class Association was founded in 1962.

The objectives of the association are:

To promote and develop Ensign Class racing under uniform rules;
To rigidly maintain the one-design features of the Ensign;
To promote use of the Ensign as a family boat for recreational sailing;
To educate the public, and particularly the youth, in sailing and sailboat racing,
with emphasis on safe boat handling and the use of the proper
and necessary equipm

ent for sailboats. The Ensign is a great boat, for family sailing, cruising, and for racing...

It's a great looking boat, with classic lines, and a wonderfully large, deep cockpit where passengers feel comfortable, safe, and secure...

It has a sail plan that achieves hull speed in breezes as low as eight to ten knots, and a full keel that delivers performance when the boat is sailed flat, and forgiveness when allowed to heel. It is a strong, durable boat, affordable to buy and easy to sell. There are not many designs that get everything so right. For these reasons, the Ensign, on January 25th, 2002, was the first boat inducted into the American Sailboat Hall of Fame.

Hello!

Bud Brown here…

Today I am continuing to work on the Time and Tide clock trophies to be awarded to the top ten teams, both skipper and crew, at the 2026 Ensign National Championship, August 11 - 16, at Toms River Yacht Club in New Jersey.

Often times, crew members get overlooked at regattas, and they get overlooked for a reason… Nice trophies are expensive… and buying them presses against the budget… especially when the host decides to give awards to ten teams.

I decided to overcome that problem by building them myself.

Made from walnut, the clocks will come with an easel, and the skippers will also receive an oval, walnut base with a Barnegat Bay Lighthouse replica standing beside their clock.

Come celebrate the Ensign Class’ biggest event of the year!

3 days of racing are done - 8 races completed. The first 2 days the winds were predominantly NE and the water was really bumpy, with wind strength 10-12, making for good tough racing. Today Wednesday the wind shifted to the south flipping the orientation of the course. The wind was 6-12 on flatter water, but another day of hard racing and tough decisions on which way to go. Tired sailors are ready for a good award’s dinner!
