Meet the Goliath grouper!

One of the largest groupers in the ocean, and a pretty impressive ambush predator.

Instead of chasing prey over long distances, Goliath groupers use their enormous mouths to create powerful suction, pulling unsuspecting fish and crustaceans right in.

They're also surprisingly curious, which makes them some of our favorite subjects to photograph underwater here in Key Largo.

Goliath groupers are a familiar sight on Key Largo's deep wreck dives. You can sometimes find them hanging out inside the corridors and passageways of the Spiegel Grove.
