A lift bag looks simple… until physics gets involved.

Proper lift bag use is more than attaching a load and adding air. As the bag ascends, the gas inside expands, increasing its buoyancy and potentially accelerating the ascent.

That’s why control starts before you ever leave the bottom.

Prepare the bag. Secure the load. Stay clear of lines and potential entanglements. Add gas gradually. Establish positive buoyancy while maintaining your own buoyancy and positioning.

And once the ascent begins — stay in control.

Manage the expanding air, monitor your ascent, and maintain control of the lift bag throughout the ascent. If the lift becomes unsafe or uncontrolled, be prepared to release.

Lift bags are incredibly useful tools, but like any piece of dive equipment, knowing how and when to use one matters.

Some journeys are bigger than the certification at the end.

Tim’s journey with us started last year when he stepped into the world of adaptive diving as a Diveheart Adaptive Dive Buddy candidate. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to watch him continue to learn, challenge himself, and grow as a diver and dive professional.

Adaptive Dive Buddy training ➡️ PADI Divemaster ➡️ Specialty Diver training ➡️ Assisting and shadowing courses ➡️ countless hours in and around the water ➡️ and finally, his PADI Instructor Development Course.

This weekend, all of that work came together as Tim successfully completed his PADI Instructor Examination and took the next step in his journey as a PADI Instructor! 🎉

We’re especially proud because this wasn’t about rushing from one certification to the next. It was about gaining experience, working with different divers, learning alongside other professionals, and building the skills and confidence that come from actually doing the job.

As always, we’re proud to work alongside Horizon Divers PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Center, one of our partner PADI IDC Centers for professional-level training. Their team and operation give our candidates the opportunity to experience the day-to-day realities of working in the dive industry—from boats and students to working alongside different instructors and dive professionals.
