The Deadlift vs. The Romanian Deadlift (RDL):
Here is the quick breakdown of what you're seeing in the video:
The Conventional Deadlift: A total-body pulling movement. You start from a dead stop on the floor, using a lot of leg drive (quads) and hip extension to lift the weight up which requires more glute activity.
The Romanian Deadlift (RDL): A top-down movement that heavily targets the posterior chain (hamstrings and glutes). The knees stay relatively stiff while you maximize the hip hinge, lowering the bar just past your knees.
