CrossFit is a training methodology aimed at improving overall fitness – increasing both strength and cardiovascular levels for people of all fitness levels and abilities. The program was developed by Coach Greg Glassman through many years of watching, working with and coaching all types of people – from those considered “normal and average” to top athletes. Coach Glassmans idea- take what worked b
est from the sports and movements that create the most versatile athletes (gymnastics, weightlifting and metabolic conditioning) and throw out the rest. If a workout or particular movement proved to be challenging, functional and effective, it stayed in the system. What remains is CrossFit- the most effective fitness and conditioning system available. The beauty of CrossFit is it’s infinite scalability. The fitness needs of an accountant, a college athlete or a grandmother differ by degree not kind. By scaling loads, intensity and duration; CrossFit programming is appropriate for any individual who is willing to put in the work- regardless of fitness or ability level. In our local gym, you’ll find a mix of stay at home moms, collegiate athletes, salespeople, triathletes, fitness beginners and “your average joes”. We’re a CrossFit gym because we believe in it. We’ve experienced the results for ourselves and continue to see our members achieve higher levels of fitness. Our workouts are quick, intense and built around exercises that are athletic in nature and mimic movements found in everyday life – pushing, pulling, running, throwing, jumping, dragging, lifting and so on. Think about it, when do you ever sit or lie on a bench to move something heavy? That’s why you won’t see a bunch of big, complicated exercise machines in our gym. Instead, we utilize medicine balls, kettlebell training, power lifting, Olympic lifting, pull up bars, rowing and numerous other physical activities that are functional and challenging. Each session is led by one of our Certified CrossFit trainers who will coach you in the movements and motivate you to perform at your top level.
