“Forged in Fire” baseball exhibit opens Saturday at Scottsdale Stadium
A free exhibit tracing the rough and tumble history of baseball in Arizona opens Saturday, Oct. 4, at Scottsdale Stadium, 7408 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale.
Opening day hours are from noon to 5 p.m.
The exhibit is produced by the nonprofit group Arizona Baseball Legacy and Experience and is sponsored by the city of Scottsdale.
It features rare baseball artifacts from the 1800s and tells the story of how our National Pastime helped tame the frontier, boost early cities and grow to become a major tourism attraction and economic driver for our state.
Entitled “Forged in Fire: Arizona Baseball from the Frontier to the Fall League” also tells the story of the colorful mining and “outlaw” leagues, the early days of spring training, Scottsdale’s evolution of Cactus League teams, the city’s strong legacy of high school baseball and of course, the Fall League which opens its season Oct. 6 at Scottsdale Stadium.
The exhibit will be open most days from Oct. 4 through Oct. 19. The daily schedule is below.
Hours vary depending on stadium activity. During Fall League games, the exhibit will be open one hour before game time and will close when the game is completed. Entrance into the stadium and the exhibit requires a game ticket during Fall League contests.
During non-game days, entrance to the exhibit is free. For more information, visit www.ABLEAZ.org
