After a lot of thought, prayer, and some difficult conversations, I’ve decided not to field my Firecrackers team this fall.
When I started coaching, I wanted to teach the game, compete, and help young athletes become better players and better people. Somewhere along the way, it became about a lot more than softball.
There were championships, tough losses, long weekends, early mornings, late nights, hard conversations, and a lot of time spent at the ballpark.
But what I’ll remember most is watching these girls grow — not just as athletes, but as young women.
To the players who trusted me, worked for me, challenged me, and let me be part of their journey: thank you. It has been an honor.
To the families who supported me and the coaches who genuinely showed up for our girls: thank you. I’ll always be grateful for the people who stood beside us and made the good moments even better.
I’m proud of what we built, and even more proud of the girls who came through it.
They’ll wear different uniforms, take different paths, and write their own stories from here. I’ll be cheering for them all the same.
And as difficult as it is to close this chapter, there’s something I’m looking forward to more than anything:
Getting to just be Dad.
Not Coach Dad. Not the guy worrying about lineups, practices, rosters, or the next tournament.
Just Dad.
I get to watch my daughter play, support her, and enjoy the game without carrying the weight of coaching it. And honestly, I’m ready for that.
This chapter gave me memories and relationships I’ll carry with me for a long time.
The uniform may change. The relationships don’t.
I’ll see you at the field. 🥎❤️🖤
