Apparently the Salem Witches prefer their bats with wings 🦇 and not base balls ⚾, so they won't be partaking in this year's Ohio Cup.

To the Esteemed Veterans and Worthies of the National Game,

The Ohio Village Muffins and Diamonds Vintage Base Ball Program cordially invites the seasoned ballists of our fraternity to assemble for the 2nd Annual Legends and Legacies Game, to be contested during Ohio Cup weekend on September 5th at 2 o'clock in the afternoon* upon one of the event's central playing grounds.

This exhibition is dedicated to honoring the flagbearers of Vintage Base Ball, those stalwart men and women whose devotion, labor, and fellowship have preserved the game and passed its traditions to succeeding generations.

All players of 55 years and greater are respectfully encouraged to take the field and represent the clubs and programs that have shaped our shared history. Let us gather not merely to engage in a friendly contest, but to celebrate the enduring legacy of Vintage Base Ball and those who built it.

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔-𝟎𝟖-𝟐𝟑: Union Base Ball Club of Dexter 16, (at) Welcome Campbell No.27 BBC 6.

The Union Club made their inaugural trip to Martin Road Park for today's match. Having won against the Welcome Campbell Club earlier this year in Dexter, the guests were eager to see victory perch on their banner once again even if their hosts were eager to play with pluck and perseverance in hoping for a different outcome today.

Fine defense dominated the first five innings with both clubs tallying five runs each. Dexter, who displayed timely hitting last week in two matches in Royal Oak, started hitting more strong balls in the remaining innings. Dexter used a clean home run with a runner on base to take a 7-5 lead after the sixth innings and their timely hitting extended the lead to 14-5 before the hosts scored a run to cut the deficit to 14-6 heading into the ninth innings. The Union club added two more runs and accepted their chances on the field defensively to retrieve their laurels.

Final score notwithstanding, both clubs displayed good sportsmanship and played a strongly-contested match. It was a pleasure umpiring this match between two clubs with upstanding captains (Teufel Hundun for Welcome Campbell and Mad Dog for the Union Club).

An update from California and Bay Area Vintage Base Ball.

The Rising Sun Base Ball Club served at the first opponent ever for the Olympics of Washington D.C. I see me counterpart from the Rising Sun also played in the match.

Our match today was very special, as we had the honor to visit the Olympics of Washington, D.C. in their inaugural game in Rockville, MD. We are SO glad to help grow the game and the community of ballists and fans who participate in it, especially in the Mid-Atlantic region. There will definitely be many more matches between our clubs in the future!

Also- a big thank you to to Chris, founding member of the Olympic Club, for hosting us for post-game merriment!

We're busy next weekend with games in Lewes, DE on the Saturday and Jerusalem Mill on Sunday. We'll see you there!
