🏆 MEN OF THE MATCH & THE THIRTY-NINE STARS 🏆

The Midwest Quarterfinals are in the books, and we’ve got some recognition to hand out.

🟣 JAZZ MOOSE MOTM: ARVONNI

One of the smaller guys on the pitch, but apparently nobody told him that mattered. Tackle after tackle, hit after hit, Arvonni never backed down and never stopped fighting. If you want to know what a never-quit attitude looks like, look no further.

Don’t be surprised when you see him suiting up alongside the D3 boys in the near future. He’s earned it. 💪

🔵 MOOSE MOTM: BIGGS

Again. Seriously.

The kid is an absolute menace, and at this point we’re running out of things to say about him. Just another week of Biggs doing Biggs things and collecting hardware. We’re starting to think he has a subscription to these awards.

⭐ OUR 39 STARS OF THE WEEKEND ⭐

Normally, we’d hand out three stars. This week? We’re throwing that out the window.

39 players. Two teams. One club.

Every single guy who pulled on a Michiana jersey this weekend deserves recognition. Whether you were battling at home against Flint or making the trip to Indianapolis to take on Westside, you represented this club and everything we’ve worked to build.

The Jazz Moose may have seen their inaugural season come to an end, but the fight they showed and the opportunities they created have made this entire club stronger.

39 guys. 39 stars. Every single one earned. ⭐

🏉 NEXT UP: MIDWEST SEMIFINALS

Now it’s time to recover, regroup, and get ready for the Pittsburgh Forge.

A trip to the Midwest Championship on November 14 AND a berth in the spring National Playoffs are on the line.

One club. One goal. The job isn’t finished.

We can’t express how proud we are of these guys for fighting hard all season, even when they travelled light.

Love our Moose guys!! Headed to Indy today to cheer on the Michiana Rugby Football Club D4 Jazz Moose. Tough match, the guys fought hard, but took a loss. First year for the Jazz Moose and played in 2 play off matches. Way to go Moose!! 🫎 (Photos to come soon.)

FINAL FOUR BOUND. 🫎🏉

The Moose keep rolling!

Our D3 boys took care of business at home, taking down #4 Flint 77-7 to keep the unbeaten streak alive and punch our ticket to the Midwest Semifinals against Pittsburgh Forge!

Meanwhile, our D4 Jazz Moose made the trip to Indianapolis a little lighter than we would’ve liked. Despite being shorthanded, the boys battled until the final whistle, ultimately falling 44-14 to a tough Westside Outcasts squad.

That loss brings an end to an incredible inaugural season for the Jazz Moose. What started as an opportunity to get more guys meaningful rugby turned into a top-five Midwest ranking, a 4-1 regular season, and a trip to the Elite Eight. Not bad for year one. 🟣🟡

But here’s where things get interesting.

Two teams. One club. One goal.

With the D4 season officially in the books, the entire roster is now available for D3 selection. The Jazz Moose and Moose are coming together for one final push toward a Midwest championship.

No more D3. No more D4. Just Michiana Rugby.

Next up: Pittsburgh Forge.

We’re not done yet.

🦒 THE BABY GIRAFFE IS ALL GROWN UP. 🦒

Three years ago, a young Brendan wandered into Michiana Rugby fresh out of Marian High School. All legs, questionable coordination, and the unmistakable appearance of a baby giraffe learning to walk.

Naturally, the nickname stuck.

Fast forward to this weekend. With our usual captain a late scratch, Brendan was called upon to lead the Moose into the first round of the Midwest playoffs.

His first match as captain. His first win as captain.

Michiana 92. Lansing 14.

We’re not saying Brendan was solely responsible for the 78-point victory, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Somewhere along the way, our baby giraffe grew into a full-fledged adult giraffe. We’re proud of the player and leader he’s become over the last three years.

Congratulations on your first captaincy and first win, Brendan. 🫡

Now somebody get this man some leaves off a tall tree. He’s earned them.

🫎💙💛

TWO TEAMS. TWO WINS. TWO TICKETS TO THE ELITE EIGHT. 🫎🏉

Michiana handled business this weekend, and BOTH squads are moving on!

🎷 D4 JAZZ MOOSE: 47 – DAYTON: 20
🫎 D3 MOOSE: 92 – LANSING: 14

Before we look ahead, we’ve got some hardware to hand out!

🏆 MEN OF THE MATCH
Presented by Boss Hogg’s Mobile Cigar Lounge 🐗

🎷 JAZZ MOOSE — JAY
Jay woke up and chose violence. Running angry, breaking tackles, and making life miserable for anyone standing between him and the try line.

🫎 MOOSE — DREW
Drew apparently decided it was time for his best Sonic the Hedgehog impression. Just a scrum cap, a rugby ball, and a concerning amount of speed. Gotta go fast. 💨🦔

⭐ DOUG’S THREE STARS

🎷 Jazz Moose: Corbin, Arvonni & Jay

🫎 Moose: Drew, AG & Corey

NEXT UP: THE ELITE EIGHT. 👀

🎷 JAZZ MOOSE vs. #1 WESTSIDE OUTCASTS
📍 Sycamore School | Indianapolis, IN
📅 October 24 | 1 PM

The first-year Jazz Moose have a date with the #1 seed. Nobody said the road to a championship would be easy.

🫎 MOOSE vs. FLINT ROGUES
📍 Moose Rugby Grounds | Elkhart, IN
📅 October 24 | 1 PM

The Moose defend home turf with a trip to the Midwest Final Four on the line.

Two cities. Two battles. One club.

We haven’t figured out how to be in two places at once, so we’re counting on the Moose faithful to show up and make some noise wherever they can!

TWO SIDES. ONE CLUB. TWO SHOTS AT THE FINAL FOUR.
