Durango High School Hockey is facing its most important moment yet. 🚨🚨

The district has shared that the future of the DHS hockey program for the 2026–27 season depends on increased participation, financial sustainability, and stronger organizational support moving forward. Families interested in playing are being asked to contact the district by June 1, while DHS works to repost the head coaching position, evaluate participation numbers, and determine whether the program can continue as a CHSAA-sponsored sport. This is where our hockey community has an opportunity to come together.

Durango High School Hockey has built a legacy of hard work, resilience, teamwork, and heart over many years, and it would be heartbreaking to see that opportunity disappear for future athletes. We are encouraging passionate leaders within our community to step forward and apply for the head coaching position.

This is more than just a coaching role — it is a chance to mentor young athletes, strengthen a program that means so much to local families, and help preserve the future of hockey in Durango.

The position for head coach is not live yet — if anyone has interest in coaching, please send a letter of intent to [email protected] and CC [email protected] BY or BEFORE JUNE 1st. It will take all of us — families, players, alumni, and community members — pulling together to keep this program alive. The clock is ticking! Let’s make sure Durango High School Hockey has a next chapter.

Do you or someone you know LOVE hockey? Spring Celly 2026 presented by Durango Hockey Events is officially here! This year’s event spans 4 days (THU•04/09-SUN•04/12), with 18 teams from all over the Four Corners area. This FREE event is open to the public, and will be held at Chapman Hill Ice Arena • 500 Florida Road in Durango, CO. Our dear friends at Them Cakes, Dough Bakery & Catering will be serving up coffee and breakfast on SAT & SUN morning! The ice season here in DGO is short lived, and this is a celebration of another amazing year playing this game we all love so much.
