🌟 Staff Spotlight — Celebrating Elsa! 🌟

For the past 7 years, Elsa has been an invaluable part of our YMCA family. 💙 As a Group Exercise Instructor, she has brought energy, encouragement, and joy to our members through her Zumba classes, creating a welcoming space where everyone can move, have fun, and feel connected. 💃

Over the past year, Elsa has taken on a new role as our Active Older Adult Coordinator, continuing her passion for bringing people together. She creates opportunities for older adults to stay active, build meaningful friendships, and maintain a strong sense of community and belonging. ❤️

From leading energetic Zumba classes to helping our Active Older Adults thrive, Elsa’s enthusiasm, compassion, and genuine care for others can be felt throughout our Y.

Susan Kelly's story at the Y began when she moved to Rhode Island. 👋

What struck her first was who was in the building.

"What I was struck with immediately was the range in ages of people who go to the Y, but also people who work at the Y. It has such a community feel."

People from every part of the community. Different ages, different backgrounds, in the same place at the same time.

Susan knows names now. She says hello. And when someone is having a day where they'd rather stay home, she tells them anything is better than nothing. ✨

Chris Spiegel wanted his son Myles to have opportunities to build meaningful relationships as he grew up. ♟️

After years away from sports, Hannah Little remembered how much she loved swimming. 🏊

Coming back was hard at first. At the Y, she found instructors who paid attention, offered adjustments, and helped her discover how much she could do. 💪

Today, we proudly celebrate Ms. Judy’s 14-year anniversary with the Greater Providence YMCA! 🎉💙

Ms. Judy’s journey began as a Y member. Just a few months later, she joined the Kent County YMCA as a Welcome Center Representative and later transferred to the Cranston YMCA. Today, she continues to serve and make a difference at both locations.

At 50, Mark Roby set a goal to run a half marathon. 🏃

Fifteen years after joining the Kent County Y, what he talks about most is the people who helped him along the way.

John has been Mark's trainer for more than a decade. Mark credits their strength training with helping him complete the miles, but over the years, John also became a close friend.

"It's the people that I've met and the experiences that I've had with those people. That's probably been the most important part of achieving those milestones."
