The last two weeks have been spent with , forming the identity of this year's team while up holding the standards of the MSJC baseball program.
Today, the team took a run up the Mt. Rubidoux hiking trail followed by some quality time breaking bread with each other at Chic-fil-a. The mornings runs at Mt. Rubidoux are my favorite to be a part of and watch from a sports psychology perspective.
The anxious and nervousness of some before we start. Some with the self-doubt of completing the task. Even some are overconfident. But when the task is completed, you see the growth of individuals and the team right before your eyes.
They finish with more confidence, less anxious, and some even get humbled and finish with humility. But most importantly, how to manage all those different things a TEAM!
If individuals and collectively as a team, you really want to "Get comfortable being uncomfortable," then you have to get them to do uncomfortable tasks.
The best part of this is to see this many guys show up to a voluntary run. It lets us know as coaches what we are working with. The message to the team is always, "If you want extraordinary results, then it's going to take extraordinary effort" physically and mentally.
Laying the foundation of the team culture one brick at a time!! ๐ฆ
