Metropolis Rugby Club

Metropolis Rugby Club The Metropolis Rugby Football Club is an organization dedicated to the development and growth of our team, the sport of rugby, and the community at large.

Metropolis Rugby has 15's & 7's men & women's teams. Current Club
Metropolis RFC currently has 15's USA rugby Men's Division I and Division II, Women's Division I, and 7's Women and Men 7's. Origins
Metropolis RFC represents a winning combination of strong rugby play and strong club spirit. Our club is the metamorphosis of three rich rugby traditions via the consolidation in 1992 of Minneapolis RF

C, founded in 1960, and Metro RFC, founded in 1980. The rugby history books will remember Minneapolis powerhouse rugby pushing its way into the USARFU National Club Championships in the late 70's, and the relentless attacking Metro backline rising to national sevens rugby prominence in the late 80's and early 90's. The result of the merger is a balanced Metropolis style of rugby that stresses strength and mobility in the forwards, and quick ball to the backs where creativity, aggressiveness and agility dominate play. The third merged club happened in 2017 when the Minnesota Valkyries became Metropolis Valkyries. This further grew the Metropolis family, not only with numbers, but inclusivity and continuing progress to grow the game. The Metropolis Valkyries have a rich history with first establishing their club as a University of Minnesota team and as the club continued became the Minnesota Valkyries known nation wide as a founding women's club in the USA.
