Lincoln, our rookie, placed 2nd in singles league scores and placed 3rd in singles today at the state tournament!

The team is back together again tomorrow to shoot some handicaps!

Heads up for tomorrow!

🚨 Schedule Update: Handicap Trap Event 🚨

Due to forecasted severe weather moving into the area later on Wednesday, the first flight will begin earlier—at 7:00 AM tomorrow (June 10). ⏰ The daily coaches meeting starts at 6:30 AM at the scoreboard east of the registration building and will be live streamed on the Iowa SCTP page. Practice traps open at 6:00 AM.

Please make sure your squads are ready so we can run a smooth and efficient event. Before leaving tonight, secure or take down all tents and safely store any loose items—strong winds are expected, with gusts in the 30s! 💨

Stay weather aware, as several rounds of strong storms could move through over the next two days. ☔️ With rain expected, we encourage everyone to carpool if possible. 🚗

We'll keep you updated here, through the coach texting service, and via the PA system on-site. Thanks for your cooperation and stay safe! 🙏

The state tournament started today! Our intermediates, Colton H and Owen, shot singles today. We started the day a little rainy, but the sun did come out a couple times!

Colton and Owen were on point today, achieving some high scores! Final scores/ranks will be released tomorrow evening.

Marion Triple 100 Invitational yesterday!

Perfect transition from regular season to the state tournament starting on June 8th.

Our athletes brought home a lot of hardware!

Rookie (competed in the Intermediate division this shoot):
Lincoln placed 3rd in men's handicaps

Intermediate:
Owen placed 2nd in men's singles and 1st in men's doubles
Lanae placed 1st in women's singles, 1st in women's doubles and 1st in women's handicaps

JV:
Sophia placed 1st in women's singles

Kennedy women's JV completely swept doubles!
Tori placed 3rd
Sophia placed 2nd
Kayla placed 1st

Kayla placed 1st in women's handicaps

Varsity:
Colton K tied for 1st in men's handicaps but placed 2nd in a reverse run.

Our head coach Eric and varsity shooter Jackson were invited to be on Outdoor Iowa to talk about Kennedy Trap and the upcoming state tournament!

Congratulations to our outstanding Kennedy High School Class of 2026 graduates as they walk across the stage tonight: Grady, Colton and Kole.

✨ Senior Spotlight ✨

Last, but certainly not least, is Grady!

Grady’s favorite post to shoot from is #4. He says it’s the perfect medium, not as difficult as 5 but still facing right, which makes it easier for him since he’s right handed.

His most memorable shoot was difficult to pick. He does enjoy singles day at state because all day is spent out there. There’s a lot of time between shooting to relax and bond with the rest of the team.

What does he think about before calling “pull?”
Nothing. He says shooting trap gives him time to reflect and enjoy the scenery.

After high school, he will spend at least two months working as a construction wireman. From there, he is hoping to get into the electrical apprenticeship program with the union!

We traveled to Peosta yesterday for Maquoketa's Invitational! It was warm, sunny, and Coach Eric found a baby squirrel. You never know what is going to happen during one of our trap meets!

Results:
Rookie:
Lincoln placed 2nd in singles, 2nd in handicaps and 2nd in doubles

Intermediate:
Lanae placed 3rd in singles, 2nd in doubles and 3rd in handicaps
Owen, Colton H and Lanae placed 3rd in team handicaps

We are headed to Vinton tomorrow for a dual with Red Cedar!
