Calumet Lake Disc Golf Course

Round 7, Sunday June 7
14 players hit the course for round #7 of the Keweenaw Bag Tag league at the playing the long blue layout at Cal Lake. Since it was a bit buggy we played 24 holes skipping 17, 18, 19 – everyone received pars on the holes.

Rhett Carlson had the hot round of the day shooting a solid -3.
Dylan Boberg shot even par to take 2nd place.
Jesse Anderson finished at +3 for 3rd place.
Gary Lassila ended up at +5 for 4th place.
Grant Northey and Tate Lassila finished tied for 5th place, both shooting +6.
Brayden Krans and Finn O’Neill both shot +7 to round out the top scores.

Finn O’Neill won the CTP with his first hole in one on hole #13! Way to go Finn!!! He took a Discraft Big Z Roach from the prize discs. (this disc had been donated by Al Spagnotti – “Thanks Al”.
Finn does not put into the ace pool, otherwise he would have won $26 (half of the $52 in the pool)

SCHEDULE CHANGE: The next round will be at LAKE LINDEN 6pm Wednesday playing the short baskets.

The Prodigy Ace Derby was a blast! 30 Players played 40 super short holes (20 to the blue baskets, 20 to the red baskets) at the Calumet Lake course.
Aces were worth 5 points, chain/basket hits were worth 2 points and a pole hit was worth 1 point.

Conner Eddy was the Ace Derby champ with 16 total points (2 aces and 3 chain/basket hits) to win 5 extra discs and a Nerf disc.
Way to go Con man!!!
Phil McLeod took 2nd place with 13 points (1 ace and 4 chain/basket hits) and received 3 extra discs and a Nerf disc.
There was a 3 way tie for 3rd place with Mike Lund, Jarod Maggio and Brayden Krans each scoring 12 points. The 1st tiebreaker was # of aces with both Jarod and Mike having 2. Brayden only had 1 ace and was left out of the playoff.
Mike and Jarod were still tied after 3 playoff holes so it went to a CTP which Mike won to claim 2 extra discs and a Nerf disc.
A random drawing was held afterwards with Alex Leatherman, Mike Gloss and Andrew Lund each winning a disc.
According to my math there were 9 holes in one, 45 chain/basket hits and 19 pole hits.

There are just 5 spots left for the Prodigy Ace Derby tomorrow, 11am at Calumet Lake!
The cost to play is $35 and you get 3 very nice Prodigy discs to use for the event: H4 (10,5,-2,1) M4 (5,5,-1,1), Rook (3,5,-1,1).

2nd place gets: 3 additional discs OR $25.
3rd place gets: 2 additional discs OR $15.
The top 3 players also get a Nerf disc!

The putter course now has short tees!
I decided to add a tee at 33 feet for each hole to indicate a C1 putt.
The first hole is in the trees near the green electrical box.

The Calumet Lake putter course is open!
There are 6 holes ranging in length from 46 feet to 65 feet so this is a true putter course.
The 1st tee is near the green electric box near the parking lot.
I will do a little more clearing near a few baskets and clip a few more branches otherwise it’s good to go.
There is room to add 3 more holes if this proves to be popular. This will not be listed in UDisc.

Hole #1 = 59 feet, #2=65’, #3=57’, #4=61’, #5=46, #6=54’

The 3rd annual Glitch tournament will be at the MTU course this Saturday, May 30th. 2 rounds of shortend holes. Lunch included!
Sign in from 8:30am-9:30am.

May 24
9 players hit the course for round #3 of the Keweenaw Bag Tag league at Cal Lake playing the short blue layout.
Gary Lassila had the hot round of the day shooting a solid -14.
Alex Voelker shot a nice -11 to take 2nd place.
Dylan Boberg, Tate Lassila and Tom Voelker all went 5 under to tie for 3rd place.
Brayden Krans was the only other player to shoot under par at -1 to round out the top scores.
(everyone’s score was adjusted by -1 as hole 23 was incorrectly listed in UDisc as a par 3)

Michael Krock won the CTP held afterwards (hole 1 short red) and snagged a Prodigy Aceline F model in Pro Flex plastic.
“THANK YOU!” Allan Spagnotti and Alex Voelker for donating some nice discs for future prize giveaways!

The next round will be at 6pm Wednesday at the Bucky’s course playing the short yellow layout.

If you are looking for a fun, casual disc golf league the Keweenaw Bag Tag league will be at Calumet Lake tomorrow at 10:00am.
The league plays every Sunday at 10am & every Wednesday at 6pm through October 4th.
Play as often as you want. We play at Calumet Lake, Lake Linden, Bucky’s and MTU. There are 41 scheduled rounds.

The cost to join is just $20 for the season and you get a sweet bag tag! ($15 if you already have a tag). There is a prize giveaway for every round (usually discs).

Standings are kept by U-Disc Leagues. Prizes awarded to the top 5 players at the end of the season. Your best 25 rounds are used.
