For the fourth straight year our season came to an end with a disappointing Gibson Cup series. Congratulations to the Portage Lake Pioneers on winning the series. They played a couple great hockey games as our boys battled hard. Game 1 we kept it tight through more than two periods of play and Game 2 we had a couple moments of brilliance in front of an incredible crowd, but we couldn’t pull off the upset, losing 8-6 and 7-2.

It wasn’t our best season with wins and losses, but our team battled when it mattered most and had some great moments on and off the ice. More important than that, the tradition continued and we saw incredible community support from our fans at the Colosseum, our faithful sponsors and incredible volunteers who join us every game to make it all possible.

Thank you to everyone who made this season memorable. We’ll be back in 2026-27 ready for a big step forward.

It’s do-or-die time in Calumet tonight as we battle for the historic Gibson Cup. Puck drop is at 7:30, doors open at 6:30. We’re excited to have some special guests tonight as we welcome the 10U State Champion team and our friends from Keweenaw Random Acts of Community Kindness for Chuck-a-Puck!

Last night we fell 8-6 in Game 1 behind two-goal efforts from Dylan Boberg and Matt Yeo. It was tied 5-5 after two, but we lost momentum early in the third. Hopefully we get a great crowd out to support our upset efforts tonight!

… and that’s a wrap on the 2025-26 Great Lakes Hockey League season. We finished with a 5-14-1 season. Matt Yeo scored on the power play to bring the Wolverines to within one with three minutes left, but the equalizer couldn’t be had before the Falcons added an empty netter. Hubbard stopped 40 of 44 shots in net, Logan Rastello had a playmaker and Cliff Jurmu and Sherman Mowery joined Yeo with goals.

Next up is the GLHL Tournament. We play Friday morning at 11:30 against Fox Cities and Friday evening at 6 against Fond du Lac. Both games will be at the HOCO.

The Wolverines path to the #7 seed requires a little help from Sun Prairie. They also need to take care of business against Eagle River.

Missed this update from the weekend - we were down 3-0 after one period, and 5-3 to start the third before coming back to tie the game at 5 midway through the third. Unfortunately, the visiting Papermakers got a late marker to near the win and season sweep. Logan Rastello netted a hat trick in the game, while Gabe Coppo had a play maker and Jimmy Brey had his third multi-point game of the season and now has points in three straight games.

Next up we play our final road game in Marinette Friday night. Our final GLHL home game is Saturday, March 21 against Eagle River!

We’re back at home TONIGHT! Come out and cheer on your Wolverines as we take on the Mosinee Papermakers!

So it wasn’t the best of performances by your Wolverines tonight, but we’re proud of the crew who battled tonight. We were down 7-2 early in the second period when the boys battled back to make it 7-5. Unfortunately the home squad, backed by an incredible crowd, scored 7 or the next 8 goals to win the game. Logan Rastello had a hat trick and Mike Babcock finished with two goals and four points.

We’re back at home Saturday night against the Mosinee Papermakers!
