Here is another member of our show team who razzle-dazzled at Mule Days - meet Alison! Alison shows Oliver, our charming workaholic with the expressive face (see a few posts back). But Alison also very recently acquired her very own mule - the stunning “Pretty Mary Kay.” And MK certainly lives up to her name, she is stunning, charming, and ever a lady.

Alison and MK showed together for the first time at Mule Days, and managed the impressive feat of placing 6th in the giant halter class - and then, went ahead and scored first place in halter for quarter horse type mules! This is a huge accomplishment, being that MK is only 6 years old and has her big baby moments (although, always very gracefully so).

If you have never shown halter, you might not know how difficult it is to get a giant animal to stand still and look pretty for what feels like a very long time - y’all just going to have to trust us on this. Or come out to the ranch and try for yourself.

Alison and MK showed their mettle, and as their relationship deepens and their training evolves, you can be sure that those two elegant ladies will keep scoring ribbons in all sorts of classes. 🐴🫏

We are proud to present the Mule Days Reserve Champion in English - Summer!

Summer is a talented equestrian, who at the tender age of 13 is the current reigning AMA youth champion! For Mule Days, she placed 1st in English Equitation, and English Pleasure, and brought several more ribbons home.

Summer competes on Linda’s Max, but is also working hard on showing her very own mule, Picasso. She has only had Picasso for a few short months, but their bond is already deep and they had fun - and success - showing at Mule Days.

Summer is not only a talented rider, she is also a lovely young lady who is a bit shy at first, but is always warm and kind and happy to help.

We are so excited to see what the future holds for her - she is definitely one to watch out for! Go, Sum! We are so very proud of you! 🙌 🎉

What a week it has been. In the end, it is all about the animals and our partnerships with them. We love and appreciate our four-legged partners. We work together as a team, or as Linda likes to call it, “we partner up.” Mules and donkeys are incredibly smart, sensitive, and stubborn. Magic only happens when we work together. ❤️

Oliver’s face is all our faces right now. We are exhausted, but we are also sad that it’s over. Now we will have to wait another year for the biggest celebration of mules and donkeys….. but fear not, we actively compete at a lot of other shows, so there will be more show updates to come. We are also still sorting through a huge amount of pictures and videos, as well as figuring out who placed what and where. Mule Days is a whirlwind experience, and we are already looking forward to next year! 🫏🐴

Ps: Oli is a sweetheart, but he sure has an intense side eye 😅

Ribbons and smiles. These are just a few snapshots, we are so busy during Mule Days that we don’t always have time to take pictures right in the moment. But these pictures were all taken shortly after placing, so you can really see our joy.

We are not done yet, we still have the opportunity to win a few more ribbons today. 🫏🐴

Mule Days is a celebration to showcase the amazing versatility of these unique animals. But we celebrate our mules every other day too! And during show season, we make sure to spoil them even more. That is the least we can do to pay our four-legged partners back for all they give to us. To win the heart of a mule is truly something special. 💕

Picasso is one of our up and coming show mules - and he hasn’t quite figured out how to pose for the camera yet. But his owner Summer will teach him that too. Maybe. Perhaps. Eventually….. because - mules! 🤣

Ps - don’t let the initial stinky face fool you, Picasso is a giant teddy bear.

🎂 Come and celebrate Linda’s birthday with us! 🧁

When: tomorrow, this Friday, half an hour after the last class ends, around 7:30pm. Please remember that Linda has students to coach, so depending on the show schedule, she might be late for her own party. But then that is what a dedicated trainer does.

Where: fairgrounds - by the Double L trailer. You can find us parked in our usual spot, under the American flag (the one that faces the 395.) Our trailer also has a giant Double L sign and a lot of show ribbons - see previous picture.

What: a potluck to celebrate Linda’s birthday - which always happens to fall on Mule Days. Bring food, bring snacks, bring drinks, but most of all, bring a hug and a smile for the lady who has been a professional trainer for over forty years and shows no signs of slowing down. We love you, Linda! 🎉
