(210)

Divelink Cebu is the first all-local Filipino owned 5 star PADI Instructor Development Dive Resort in Malapascua. It is a three-minute walk from the Logon village southwest of the island. We offer PADI Certification courses from Open Water to Divemaster. We also cater for NITROX diving. On top of that we are also involved in research and conservation. Since the pelagic thresher shark is classed as

Vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for Conservation of nature (IUCN), Divelink Cebu is a proud partner of the Thresher Shark Research and Conservation Project. Divelink Cebu is also one of the best spots to watch the sunset in Malapascua. Watch the sky turn into a palette of oranges, reds and pinks, to cap off your day.

ANNOUNCEMENT | DIVING ADVISORY

Please be informed that the LGU of Tabango, Leyte has announced a temporary suspension of diving activities at Kimud Shoal on November 13–14, 2025.

This is to allow the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to conduct a site assessment and marine safety evaluation in the area.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation.

Let’s continue to support efforts that ensure the safety of both divers and marine life. 🌊🐠

Beached Melon-Headed Whale in Malapascua

Earlier today, a melon-headed whale (Peponocephala electra) was found stranded on the shores of Malapascua Island. Despite rescue efforts from local volunteers and dive professionals, the whale sadly succumbed to its injuries shortly after being discovered.

Currently, the animal is undergoing a necropsy (animal autopsy) led by resident marine biologist Gary Cases, to determine the cause of its stranding and injuries. Findings from this examination will be shared with relevant marine authorities to aid in future conservation and response efforts.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who helped during the rescue attempt, and we remind everyone to report any sightings of distressed or stranded marine animals to local authorities or marine conservation groups immediately.

Let this serve as a reminder of the fragile balance of our marine ecosystem — and our shared responsibility to protect it.
