This year marks the 15th year of this special fixture β€” a cup that holds a lot of mana for both Wainuiomata High School Rugby and Wainuiomata Rugby Club. πŸ’šπŸ–€

The Willie Gemmell Cup celebrates the incredible contribution of Life Member Willie Gemmell and the legacy he has created through his years of coaching, mentoring and supporting our rangatahi at the kura and within our club.

This evening we celebrated our Year 8 students as they marked the end of their time in our Junior Rugby Club.

Thank you for representing our club and our community with pride. We are incredibly proud of the memories you’ve created, the friendships you’ve built, and the mahi you’ve put in throughout your junior rugby journey.
As you head into your next chapter at High School, we wish you all the very best.

A massive thank you to Lee Hunter from He Kaha Tuatinitini Taiao for nominating Wainuiomata Rugby Club for the Toyota New Zealand Grounded Grant.

Thanks to the try scored by Black Fern Shyrah Tuliau-Tua’a (on debut πŸ”₯), our club was selected as a recipient and awarded $2,000.

We are incredibly grateful to Toyota and New Zealand Rugby for recognising and supporting clubs like ours across Aotearoa.

But it’s important we keep our tamariki active, connected and engaged within our community over the summer months (when summer finally arrives πŸ‘€β˜€οΈ).

We’ve had a proud partnership with Wainuiomata Softball Club - Inc over the years, and their 2026/27 softball registrations are now OPEN! πŸ₯Ž

A great way for our kids to stay active, make new friends and continue being part of our awesome Wainui whānau.
