Spring in the Air 🍃

We are headed to Ellerslie today for a big day of racing, with one runner on the card.

🔔 BELLE REBELLE (J. Masa Hashizume)
She is returning to the races today after a break from a solid 2YO campaign that saw her claim a win on debut and a stakes placing here at Ellerslie. Her barrier today is a bit sticky, but with some luck in running, we are hoping to see her run home strongly with an eye on some big 3YO spring features later in her campaign.

Thursday Racing at Te Aroha 💟

Our team is heading to the track under the mountain today with 6 runners entered for this rescheduled meeting today.

🐲 DRAGONSTONE (J. Kyle Wilson-Taylor)
As we expected, he has continued to develop and improve with each outing to date, and his last start was his best run yet. He was unlucky at a crucial stage that day, and he finds a race that should suit him today. A leading rider and a nice draw are postives, we feel he can run another top 4 today. Hopefully he can do his big sister proud as she lines up in Race 7.

🎸 ROCKING (J. Warren Kennedy)
She is such a consistent mare who tries her best every run. Dropping back in trip for today isn't ideal, but she has had a little bit of space between runs and will relish today's conditions. Her draw isn't ideal, but she is reunited with Warren Kennedy, who has a good association with her. She can run a bold race here, even with a few factors against her.

🧑‍💼 PRESIDENT FIR (J. Erin Leighton)
His trial performances show us he has ability, but he was always going to take a lot of improvement from his debut run over 1200m. Up to 1400m here today should suit him as he progresses with each run. We think he will settle back in this field and look for him to run on late.

👑 KING OF THE JUNGLE (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
A big son of Tarzino, he has benefited from a good spell as he continues to fill out his frame. His recent trial was pleasing, and as he progresses over longer distances, we expect to see him improve each run.

🎎 YOKOZUNA (J. Kyle Wilson-Taylor)
A horse we know has great ability, but he has put in some head-scratching runs recently. Last start showed he was trending in the right direction and we think he has shown enough to suggest he is getting back to what we know he is capable of. The booking of a top jockey will help him navigate the tricky draw.

💄 GIRLZGIRLZGIRLZ (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
She proved she was back to herself last start on the softer footing, and her run that day was super. The 3kg claim will be a big assist here, and her draw looks like it will be the ideal place to be at this stage of the day. The step to 1400m should be ideal for her, and we feel she can be right in this.

September in the North 🏖

The team makes the trek north to Ruakaka today, where we have 7 runners engaged early in the day.

💥 BOOM TOWN (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
A lovely son of Darci Brahma making his raceday debut here. He has trialled well to date and will appreciate stepping straight to 1600m as he is a horse who we see enjoying staying trips in time. He hasn't drawn ideally, so we will let him find his feet early and run on late in the race.

🧠 LOOSE THINKING (J. Erin Leighton)
He is returning after a break here and has shown good physical improvement from his first prep. His recent trial was pleasing, and we feel he will continue to develop with time and as his races get out over more ground. His draw is sticky here, so expect him to get back and run on late.

🏝 LONG ISLAND (J. Kyle Wilson-Taylor)
She has been racing super consistently lately and comes here to another race that shapes similarly to her recent outings. She has the benefit of a low draw and a top jockey on board, so she should be able to roll forward and be right near the speed early. She has been knocking on the door for a while now, and we feel a win is not too far away for her.

🎶 CHOREOMANIA (J. Craig Grylls)
She put in two lovely runs in her first prep and has returned to the stable in great order. Her recent trial will bring her on nicely and with some good form around her first two runs, we feel she has good upside from today. The 1600m is a good trip for her here, and she should run a bold race.

💨 LOFTY WIND (J. Craig Grylls)
We have been super impressed with her efforts at the trials to date, and she comes here in a good space. Making her raceday debut, she has a lovely inside draw and NZ's leading rider engaged. She will likely be right on speed in the run and can be right in this finish.

🔫 CIVIL WAR (J. Craig Grylls)
A strapping son of American Pharoah who is also returning to the races after a spell. His most recent trial was very good, and on that effort we are happy with how he is progressing. He will benefit from the book of Craig Grylls, as he has a sticky draw to contend with. While we feel he can go a good race fresh up, he will benefit from today's run fitness-wise.

🏔 SIERRA NEVADA (J. Jasmine Fawcett)
The daughter of Time Test is another runner on debut here today, and she is also a runner of ours that will benefit from the experience. Her last trial was very pleasing, and we feel she will improve with the run and fitness. Her wide draw isn't ideal, so she will likely be ridden cold and look to find the line late in the race.

Seaside Saturday 🏄

We head north to Ruakaka once again today with a team of six runners entered on the card.

🚣 LARIUS LACUS (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
She is resuming here after a spell. She comes into this without a trial and up in Rating 75 grade, so it won't be an easy task, but she will improve immensely for the run.

🐴 STRALSUND (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
He ran one of his best runs to date here last start over 1,600m. He led that day and was brave to the line. From his low draw, and with the 3kg claim, we expect another similar run today.

🛫 DEPARTURE (J. Kyle Wilson-Taylor)
He is another who last raced here over 1,600m and based on his two most recent runs, we expect another similarly solid run from him. He gets the services of a top jockey here today, which he will need from his sticky draw.

🏝 LONG ISLAND (Masa Hashizume)
Rounding out the stables trio in this race, she has been super consistent with her last 4 runs, and we feel she will relish the spacing between races for this. Her low draw is a big assist to her as she is likely to settle near the early speed in the run.

🤝 PACT (J. Sam Collett)
A last-start winner here at Ruakaka, she is looking to make the step up to 1,600m and to Rating 65 grade today. She has been working very well since her last-start win, and we feel the low draw and in-form jockey staying aboard give her every chance of running another bold race today.

🎌 YOKOZUNA (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
His recent racing this prep has been below what we know he is capable of, but we feel since the last run he has shown us enough at home to suggest he can run an improved race here. He is another who has drawn well in gate 1, and the 3kg claim will help his chances.

Waikato Weekend 🐮

It's Saturday, and we are bound for Te Rapa Racing with three runners!

🐉 DRAGONSTONE (J. Erin Leighton)
He was a touch unlucky last start when unable to get clear running for most of the straight. He comes here in a good state and with a bit of luck in the running, he can put together a nice performance.

💄 GIRLZGIRLZGIRLZ (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
She was super winning two starts back, and nothing went right for her last start when posted three-wide the whole race. With an inside draw here and back on rain-affected going, she should bounce back and be very competitive.

🎸 ROCKING (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
She is racing in top form and finds another even race here. A low draw and the 3kg claim are big positives for today, and she is another who can be very competitive here today.

Season Opener in the Winterless North ☀️

We’re back at Ruakaka for the first meeting of the new season with four runners representing the stable 👇

🤴 PRESIDENT FIR (J. Masa Hashizume)
He makes his raceday debut today after some pleasing trials. Drawn nicely and likely to settle back with cover before looking to finish strongly. He’s a big, raw horse who will improve with the experience, particularly as he steps up in trip.

🛫 DEPARTURE (J. Masa Hashizume)
He comes into this off a much-improved run over the same course and distance last start. The blinkers have sharpened him up, and despite another wide draw, we’re hoping he can roll forward and settle handy. He’s been working very well and should be in the mix with a repeat effort.

📏 STRALSUND (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
He gets back onto a much better surface today after struggling on Heavy tracks at his last two starts. Drawn nicely in gate 6 and gets a valuable 3kg claim. We’re expecting him to settle handy and be finishing strongly, with a top-four finish well within reach.

🌟 ARCADIA (J. Tom Wigram (a3)
A long-awaited raceday debut for a filly we’ve always had plenty of time for. She has trialled nicely behind quality horses and carries just 51kg after Tom’s claim. The wide draw is tricky, but she should appreciate the better footing and has plenty of untapped ability. Excited to see what she can do today.

That's a Wrap 🎁

Today marks the end of the 2025/26 season, and we thought what better time to reflect on the year that was with a look at some of the more interesting numbers that keep things running.

The last dance 💃🏻

We have one runner engaged at Otaki today for our final runner of the 2025/26 season.

🎸 ROCKING (J. Amber Riddell (a1)
She comes here off a very nice win last start at Tauranga. She remains at the same distance in the same grade and strikes the same Heavy footing as last time. The 1kg claim will be a big help here. She is a mare going well, and we feel she can be very competitive again.

Fingers crossed we can end the season on a high! 🤞🏻

Sunday Starters 🔆

We have just two runners entered today at Racing Te Aroha, both looking to clear maiden ranks.

🐉 DRAGONSTONE (J. Erin Leighton)
He has been running good enough races to suggest he can put it all together soon and score his first win. He has ability but has plenty to learn yet. The heavy track will hold no fears for him today. He gets his chance in an even field.

🐴 ASVAKAN (J. Masa Hashizume)
He has continued to show improvement with each run, and the step up in trip last start was greatly appreciated. He comes here where the track and distance will suit with a nice draw in an even field. With some luck, he can run top 3.
