GOLDEN GLOVE | EMBER HUGHES
Three years ago, as a family of goalkeepers, we introduced The Halliday Glove, Goalkeeper of the Year awards for our Junior and Youth players at Bream Bay Football.
The reason was pretty simple, we wanted to encourage and empower more young players to choose the goalkeeper position.
Because being a keeper takes something a little different. Courage, resilience, confidence, quick decision-making and a willingness to put yourself on the line for your team. It can sometimes be a position young players end up in rather than one they actively choose and we wanted to help change that.
This year, I had the absolute pleasure of presenting the Golden Glove to Ember Hughes.
I’ve been lucky enough to see Ember perform in goal firsthand, and she is such a natural. What I love most is that she chose the position, took it head on and genuinely enjoyed every second of it.
She was brave, committed and confident, throwing herself into the role and showing exactly why goalkeeping is such a special position on the field.
Seeing young keepers like Ember step into the goal with excitement and pride is exactly why we introduced this award three years ago.
Congratulations, Ember, on being named Bream Bay football Golden Glove Goalkeeper of the Year. Keep backing yourself, keep enjoying it and keep owning that goal!
We can’t wait to see where goalkeeping takes you.
