THE KICKER:
though the spring weight may sound lighter than usual weights in a gym, it feels heavier because they provide progressive resistance, rather than a fixed load; the further they stretch, the more the tension & weight increase. not only that, you’re also moving against your own body mass + the rolling motion of the carriage. this means the toughest part of the movement is at the very end of your reach, forcing all the muscles to work increasingly harder with slow & controlled movements, rather than using momentum.

- use the breath to guide you through the movement
- release unneeded tension
- move slowly with control, not momentum
