Napier Pirate Rugby & Sports Napier Pirate Rugby & Sports Club is one of the oldest & longest established sports clubs in NZ & is So come along, old and new! Once a Pirate, always a Pirate.

Napier Pirates Rugby and Sports Club was founded in 1886, making us the oldest continuous Rugby Club in the Bay. Pirates is a proud whānau focused club with rugby teams in all grades - from 5th grade to Premier. The Napier Pirate Junior Rugby Club has a strong presence in Hawkes Bay and the true nature of our club shines through on those chilly Saturday mornings. You’ll find senior and past player

s and their families cheering on, coaching and refereeing their tamariki - many of who will play all the way through to Premiers. We also have numerous netball teams for the wāhine who play alongside the rugby boys in the winter and a cricket team for the warmer months too.

2022 is a special season for Pirates Rugby as we have welcomed a Hawkes Bay Rugby great, Mutu Ngarimu, to build our Premier side and lead them to that Maddison trophy, last held in 2015. Watch this space, 2023 is already looking like an exciting season to be apart of, join us now and be part of our journey. We welcome you all to join our family - to play, to support, to encourage and to celebrate with us as we continue to build our proud club.

The countdown is on! In just over a week, we’ll come together to celebrate 140 years of our club—140 years of memories, connections, passion, and pride.

From the players who pull on the jersey or dress today to those who helped build the club over generations, this is a chance to honour our rich history and celebrate the people who make our club what it is.
