Rotorua has an amazing junior football community and we wanted to create the opportunity for teams to experience tournament football right here at Puarenga Park.

Tournaments are special. They give young players the chance to compete against teams from across the wider North Island, experience a full day of football with their teammates, and create memories that last for years to come.

Our goal is to build an event that’s fun, inclusive and development-focused — a tournament where our junior members can spend the day together, strengthen friendships, support one another and enjoy everything that makes junior football great.

We’re excited to welcome both Mixed and Girls teams across two huge Sundays in June as we pack out Puarenga Park for the first ever Lakes FC Junior Tournaments.

🎁 Spot prizes throughout the day
⚽️ Grades from 8th Grade through to 12/13th Grade for Mixed and Girls teams

For teams travelling from further afield, Rotorua has plenty to offer for a weekend away. Why not head over early and make the most of everything our city has to offer?

Team Spotlight: U8 Epics ⚽️🔥

Coached by Shane, now in his fourth year of youth coaching and currently working towards his NZ Football Junior Level 2 Coaching Award, the U8 Epics are a team that truly lives and breathes football.

Blake, Brody, Theo, Luca, Harrison, Lynx, Ashdon, and Rex are in their second consecutive year playing as a team, and the connection they’ve built is clear to see every time they step onto the field. Football isn’t just a Saturday activity for this group. Whether it’s holiday football camps, lunchtime kickabouts at school, or extra practice at home, these boys are always looking for ways to improve their game.

What makes this team especially unique is the culture that surrounds it. The teamwork extends well beyond the players, with parents constantly supporting one another, helping get kids from A to B, stepping in to assist with coaching and manager duties, and creating a positive environment for everyone involved. And of course, there’s never a game without a strong crew of grandparents on the sidelines cheering the boys on.

Watching these boys grow, not only as footballers but as teammates and mates, has been incredibly rewarding. Their passion for the game, willingness to learn, and support for one another makes them a fantastic example of what junior football is all about 💛⚽️

Morrinsville Women’s Football Team kicked off life in their new league this weekend, taking on a side that had recently been relegated from Division 2 to Division 3. Despite a determined effort and plenty of hard work across the park, Morrinsville went down 6–1.

The scoreline didn’t reflect the commitment and fight shown by the team, who battled hard from start to finish against strong opposition.

Congratulations to Annie and Brylee, who were named the Harcourts Kevin Deane Real Estate Players of the Day for their outstanding performances and effort throughout the match.

A tough result for our Men's Team on Saturday, going down 3-1 to league leaders Melville Insolvents.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Morrinsville came out strong in the second half and controlled large periods of the game. Carlos Vargas scored a fantastic equaliser after a perfect through ball from Rodrigo Flores, and the team created several chances to take the lead.

Unfortunately, a serious ankle injury to Captain, Rocko changed the momentum, and Melville capitalised with two late goals to secure the win.

Despite the result, the boys showed they can compete with the best team in the division. Plenty of positives to take into the weeks ahead.

💛🖤 A speedy recovery to Rocko, who suffered torn ankle ligaments and will be sidelined for a period. We're all behind you, mate.
