Time to meet El Presidente!! Daiiz Rongo 🇨🇰🇵🇫

Daiiz, is a massive asset to the OPSA crew since the day they stepped foot on Polytechnic grounds. A leader, listener and all round awesome human!

Let's learn more about Daiiz!

😁 Pronouns they/them
📚3rd year in Bachelor of Social Services
🏛Been with OPSA since 2024 (joined as Pasifika Rep/Vice President)
🤸 Can't do a cartwheel (I think it's worth a go though)
👥️In so many groups, Turama ite Ara Performing Arts and NZ mapu steering Committee (just to name a few)
💙 Loves the strong sense of community at OP
👍 Advice to students, use all the services! Student success, especially academic support!

Within the photos of Daiiz, we get a wee insight of the legend!
Family- Always comes first! It's the why!
Culture- Turama ite Ara Performing Arts (During Cook Island Language Week)
Doggo- Honey!! (Sorry Daiiz had to edit pic to see the super star Honey!!)
Fun- Tak 25' Cook Island students conference 2025

Even though Daiiz is a Panthers fan (Up the Panthers? Hmmm) we absolutely are stoked to call them El Presidente of OPSA!

Some final words from Daiiz, the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Let's meet some of the humans of OPSA!! Kicking things off is the Office Manager, Rammy!!

Rammy has been a part of the OPSA crew since 2019, starting out as a student rep, building his knowledge and working his way up. You'll see his face in the office Mon- Fri and is always up for a chat! (Unless he sprinting round the hub chasing his own tail)

Here's some info around our Office Manager

👨‍🎓Degree in Business Management with a diploma in accounting
🏊‍♀️ He loves a good gym and swim
⛑️Currently training for Red Cross emergency rescue
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Grew up in England and Egypt before moving to NZ at 9 years old
🦈He is an adrenaline ju**ie and has been swimming with sharks, sky diving, climbed bridges, and so much more
🐈‍⬛ Has a massive collection of cat memes
🎶Indie rock is his absolute jam

Rammy is a real people person and is always round to help where he can. He loves a good joke (he may use it when he does his stand-up routine).

OPSA is full of wonderful humans, and we are here to help with the student experience!

On 8, 9 & 10 June, any OP ākonga who would like to choose to receive a FREE vaccination (and free kai of course, because we know food always helps) can do so at one of our three 'Boosted OP' events on campus.

We will be offering FREE vaccines to ākonga to offer additional protection against:
Meningococcal disease (normally $150)
Flu (normally $15 +)
Covid (normally free but you have to go to it!)

You are also able to let us know if you are interested in receiving vaccines for:
Measles, Mumps & Rubella
HPV
If we have enough interest, we will strongly consider offering these as well.

Register your interest here so we know how many vaccines to order.

Please register by Monday 1 June at 5pm.

You are also very welcome to come along just to find out more about the different vaccines before you make a decision. And enjoy the kai of course.

We respect that people have a range of different ideas about vaccination, and would like to request that it is returned in all directions.
