💫 247.5kg - New PB 🏋️‍♂️

The first time I pulled 245kg was back in 2018. Last year at Deadlift for Dogs, I matched that lift again — which in itself was a win after years of training, setbacks, and rebuilding.

But then came 250kg… and I failed it. ❌

That missed lift stayed with me.

Yesterday, I pulled 247.5kg — finally moving past that old PB and putting myself within 2.5kg of the goal I’ve had my eyes on since last August. 🎯

At 53, this isn’t about ego. It’s about proving to myself that I’m still capable of improving, still capable of chasing hard things, and still willing to put in the work. 💀⚒️

August 👉🏼 We go again 🔥

SQUAT DAY…

No hype, just work.

155kg at 85% for 10 total reps.Then straight into 2×5 paused squats.

This is what it looks like right now—no maxes, no ego lifts. Just showing up, bracing hard, and doing the reps that actually build something.

The pauses strip it back. No bounce, no shortcuts. Just me and the weight, owning every position.

Everything I’m doing right now is building toward a bigger goal.August. Then beyond that.

Not chasing motivation. Just staying consistent when it’s heavy and uncomfortable.

That’s the work.

Heavy Day - 210kg (85% of 245kg)

Deadlifts are like life — they’re never perfect.
It’d be arrogant to think any lift is ever mastered. There’s always something to refine — position, tension, timing, ex*****on.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s consistent improvement under load.
That’s how real strength is built...

Last weekend was a special one.

Jenna and Nikki stepped onto the platform for their second powerlifting competition here in Brisbane… and to say I’m proud would be an understatement.

What makes this even more powerful is that just over a year ago, both of these ladies were brand new to strength training. Two corporate professionals who decided to try something different… and completely fell in love with the process.

From their very first deadlift comp last August, to their first full powerlifting comp in November — where they both hit huge PBs (Jenna pulling 90kg and Nikki 120kg) — the growth has been nothing short of incredible.

Fast forward to last weekend…

Jenna squatting 72.5kg 🔥
Nikki squatting 85kg 🔥
Jenna pulled 100kg 🔥
Nikki pulled 127.5kg 🔥

Both breaking new personal bests in their Squats and Deadlifts

But beyond the numbers, what stands out most is their commitment, resilience, and the way they’ve embraced stepping outside their comfort zone again and again.

As a coach, this is exactly why I do what I do.

Being able to guide people through their own unique journeys — whether it’s powerlifting, bodybuilding, or any goal they set their mind to — and to walk alongside them as they grow, both physically and mentally… it’s something I never take for granted.

Jenna, Nikki — I’m incredibly proud of you both. It’s been an absolute privilege to be part of your journey so far.

Next stops:
➡️ Jenna’s 3rd powerlifting comp on May 2
➡️ Nikki hitting the platform again in August for Deadlift for Dogs (and I’ll be right there with her)
➡️ Then back again for another powerlifting comp in November

A special thank you to Valhalla Strength in Brisbane for delivering such a well-run and high-quality event. An incredible platform for athletes to showcase their hard work.

Week 4: DELOAD WEEK

📍 1x6@160kg (first vid)
📍 2x6@165kg (second and third vid)

My back was feeling very tender over the past few days, so I was still uncertain about doing my deadlifts walking into the gym. Luckily for me it was a “deload week” and funny thing was, my back felt better after the deadlifts. It goes to show that performing the deadlift with good technique, can help alleviate lower back pain.
