Great to see our Graeme bringing his skills to tramping, and preparing for a great adventure. This could be trickier than sailing a P Class!

Meet the tramper using marine tech to make ultralight tents 🏕

After 40+ years designing sail profiles, Graeme Robbins, coach to Auckland’s racing dinghy sailors, sailmaker to the world and superyacht crew member, has designed a custom stormproof tent for his TA journey.

The result is a tent roomy enough to sit up and stretch out in, and weighs just 1180g.

“My forte is attention to detail,” says Graeme. “I’ve had some good results in sailing, and I don’t think it’s because I’m a great sailor; it’s that I’ve always strived to have better equipment than anyone else.”

The Starling is a classic New Zealand design. It is the ideal transition boat for sailors growing out of the Optimist. MBSC has a vibrant Starling fleet (one of the biggest fleets in the country) that offers highly competitive racing.

Busy day at MBSC today! P Class clinic in the morning (12 sailors)and then AIMS Games Opti training sprints in the afternoon.

All while other sailors & parents were working hard preparing the club for the start of the sailing season! Lots going on and plenty to be excited about.
