Shoulder to chest-high (1.1-1.3m) · 8-second period.
Morning bumpy on moderate northerly cross-shore (22 km/h). Midday glassy on light NE, chest-high. Evening fires at 6pm with light westerly offshore and Good conditions, but last light hits 6:24pm, you're paddling in twilight.
Tides: low 1:45pm, high 8:03pm.

SUNDAY 30 August
Waist to chest-high (0.9-1m) · 8-second period. Morning Fair and bumpy on fresh offshore SW winds. Midday Blown Out on strong offshore SW. Evening Fair but same fresh offshore bumpy conditions.
Tides: low 2:27pm, high 8:45pm.

➡️ OUR CALL:
Not your prettiest weekend, but Sunday morning beats Saturday hands down. Get in early (sunrise to 9am) for the most daylight. Pack it in by midday when the wind cranks.

TE ĀRAI & FORESTRY | WEEKEND FORECAST 📍

Saturday looks small and glassy - ankle to shin high with clean offshore winds all day. Perfect for building your skills in the softer banks, but don't expect anything spectacular. Beginner territory.

Sunday is where it gets interesting. We're looking at building up to waist-high (0.7m) walls. We start NW in the morning, swing to W offshores through the arvo. The morning starts a bit bumpy from a NW cross-shore, but by evening the wind cleans up nicely. Low tide is at 9:00am if you want a morning session, high is 3:35pm.

The call: Skip Saturday if you're after proper waves. Sunday arvo is your money shot - get there by midday to catch the swell stacking up and the wind cleaning off into the evening.

Forestry will be the call on Sunday if the afternoon wind swings too NE at Te Ārai.

AFTER SCHOOL SURFING
6-week surf coaching that builds confidence, skills, and stoke, one wave at a time.

Our after school program runs once a week for 6 weeks, giving kids and teens the chance to grow their skills with consistency and support. Whether they’re learning to pop up for the first time or refining their turns and paddling technique, every session is designed to build confidence and stoke.

Groups are kept small, kids are grouped by age and ability, and our experienced instructors create a fun, safe, and motivating learning environment, rain or shine.
