Broke uni student? Don’t own a board? Not ready to drop hundreds on gear for a sport you’re still figuring out? Say no more, the Surf Shed is exactly what you need 🌊

Try surfing for the first time, test out different boards before buying your own, or just skip the hassle of owning and storing gear. Boards, wetsuits, and roof racks are all available to rent at student-friendly prices, and it’s completely FREE for UASS events.

That’s a wrap on our first ever OrienBEERing 🧭🍻

Some questionable navigation, some genuinely great attempts at the challenges, and honestly such a good night 🙌

Last Friday UASS took over the city 📍 Starting and ending at Shadows, teams were sent out on their own to find checkpoints and take on challenges across the city, while committee held it down back at Shadows (someone had to hold the fort) 🍻

Explorer fits were out in full force, team names ranged from questionable to concerning, and everyone gave the challenges a proper crack

Shoutout to the team who decided a Maccas run was more important than the competition, respect the priorities but that’s an automatic DQ 💀

Thank you to everyone who came out 🙏 Whether you competed, cheered from the sidelines, or just showed up to Shadows for the vibes, you made the night what it was!!

🌊 WAHINE WEEKEND IS BACK 🌊

Join us for our Sem 2 Wahine trip, a cosy girls’ weekend away in Waihi for wahine and non-binary folks! 🎀 This trip is a collab with WIFA | Women in Fitness Association (WIFA), bringing together surfing and strength to help you build confidence in and out of the water 🩷🌊

📅 When: 11th – 13th September
📍 Where: Waihi

This is your chance to get into the water, build confidence, and connect with a community of girls who love the ocean as much as you do. Whether you’ve surfed for years, tried it once, or never touched a board, you belong here. No pressure, no experience needed. Just good energy, good company, and plenty of good waves 🌊

🌊 MURIWAI WEEKEND IS BACK 🌊

Need an excuse to escape Auckland for the weekend? We’ve got you 🤙

We’re heading down to Muriwai for a night of surfing, good food, and hanging out with the crew. Whether you’ve been surfing for years or have never touched a board before, everyone’s welcome 🌊

🐶🚨 THE CORGIS ARE BACK 🚨🐶

One of our most popular events is making its return!

Take a break from lectures, assignments, and everything else that’s piling up, and join UASS and the adorable corgis from Korgi Kennels New Zealand for an evening of gentle, mindful movement, puppy cuddles, and all-round good vibes. Whether you’re a yoga pro or just here for the dogs, this one’s for you.

📅 Monday 31 August 🕠 5:30–6:30pm 📍 Ponsonby Community Centre

💰 $39 per person (UASS members only) 🧘 Bring a yoga mat or a towel to protect your knees from the wooden floor. 👥 Only 28 spots available.

TE ARAI DAY TRIP 🌊
If Week 2’s already got you over it, this is your excuse to get off campus.

📅 Saturday 15th August we’re heading up to Te Arai for a full day of surfing, swimming, beach hangs, and good people.

Whether you’ve surfed for years or have never touched a board, everyone’s welcome. Bring your mates or come solo. Either way, you’ll have a good time.

Need gear or a ride? 🏄 Discounted rentals available through UASS or Aotearoa Surf School 🚗 We’ll organise carpools so getting there is easy.

Forget your average pub crawl. We’re mixing things up.
