Great success for our club at Leinster Juvenile Championships with 57-Medal Haul and Five Championship Records
The U12–U19 Leinster Juvenile Championships took place over two action packed days at Tullamore Harriers Stadium, producing an outstanding performance from our athletes. Across the weekend, club athletes delivered exceptional results, securing an impressive total of 57 medals.

The championships were highlighted by the breaking of five Leinster Championship Records. Milana Sharhayeu produced two record-breaking performances, winning the U17 Girls 400m in 57.54 and the U17 Girls Triple Jump with a leap of 11.47m. Jason Giurgila set a new U15 Boys 200m Championship Record of 23.49, while Emily Rose Ryan established a new U15 Girls 300m Championship Record of 42.82. Aisling Shevlin added another championship best in the U18 Girls 400m, clocking 55.29 to not only claim gold but also achieve her second European U18 qualifying standard.
Day one began strongly with Millie Hoashi claiming gold in the U18 Girls 3000m Walk while also setting a new club record. Daniel De Antolin-Rodriguez added another club record in the U18 Boys Triple Jump with an excellent winning jump of 13.33m.
The sprint events proved particularly fruitful for the club. Gold medals were secured by Claire Kennedy (U14 80m), Jason Giurgila (U15 100m), Jaiden Shaw-Hanlon (U16 100m), Nicole Doherty (U17 100m), Theo De Bonis (U17 100m) and Christopher Olatunde (U18 100m). Oliver Couch claimed bronze in the U15 Boys 100m while several athletes also recorded personal best performances and qualification places.
Middle-distance athletes continued the success with Lydia Jordan taking bronze in the U16 Girls 1500m and later adding silver in the 3000m. Ellen Sheridan enjoyed a superb weekend, winning both the U18 Girls 2000m Steeplechase and U18 Girls 3000m. Olivia Ryan secured silver in the steeplechase, while Senan Honer earned bronze in the U15 Boys 800m.
The 400m events delivered some of the most memorable performances of the weekend. Milana Sharhayeu’s championship record in the U17 race was followed by gold for Aisling Shevlin in the U18 event and Emmet Doyle in the U19 Boys race. Holly Dowling claimed silver in the U16 Girls race, Hugo Watsham secured silver in the U17 Boys event and Darragh Roache took bronze in the U18 Boys competition. Aliyah Whelan Tully also added a bronze medal in the U19 Girls race.
Field event athletes made a major contribution to the medal tally. Zara Jayne Collins captured U15 Triple Jump gold with a personal best of 10.17m. Nicolás De Antolin-Rodriguez earned bronze medals in both the U16 Long Jump and Triple Jump. In the U19 Girls Long Jump, Ratoath completed a one-two finish through Aliyah Whelan Tully and Éabha Hanley. Jack Meehan secured silver in the U17 High Jump while Louis Connolly and Jayda Ozatlar both collected high jump bronze medals on day two.
Sunday brought further success on the track. Nicole Doherty added another gold medal in the U17 300m Hurdles and later completed a sprint hurdles victory in the U17 100m Hurdles. Oriana Knowd won the U19 Girls 400m Hurdles in impressive fashion, but her championships also demonstrated the highs and lows of athletics. After claiming gold in the 400m Hurdles, she suffered an unfortunate fall in the U19 Girls 100m Hurdles.
One of the most courageous performances of the weekend came from Oliver Couch in the U15 hurdles events. Competing in the 250m Hurdles, Oliver was leading the race when he clipped a hurdle and fell. Knowing that a finish was crucial to secure qualification for the upcoming All-Ireland Championships, he showed tremendous determination to get back to his feet and complete the race, earning a hard-fought silver medal. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, he returned later in the day to claim a second silver medal in the U15 Boys 80m Hurdles, capping off an impressive championship performance.
The 200m finals showcased the depth of sprinting talent within the club. Gold medals were won by Jason Giurgila, Jaiden Shaw-Hanlon, Milana Sharhayeu, Theo De Bonis, Christopher Olatunde and Emmet Doyle. Emily Rose Ryan secured silver in the U15 Girls event, Alannah McNally earned silver in the U17 Girls race, Hugo Watsham claimed silver in the U17 Boys competition and Aliyah Whelan Tully took silver in the U19 Girls final.
Younger athletes also impressed throughout the weekend. Sonny O’Connell earned bronze in the U12 Boys Long Jump, Tristan Reid and Majus Kalibatas secured silver and bronze respectively in the U12 Boys Turbo Javelin, while Sarah Cleary and Annalise Mooney both won bronze medals in the hurdles events. Ellie O’Doherty produced an excellent performance to win gold in the U14 Girls 75m Hurdles.
While the medal haul and record-breaking performances captured many of the headlines, the championships also saw numerous Ratoath athletes achieve personal best performances against some of the strongest competition in Irish juvenile athletics. At Leinster Championship level, producing a personal best is a major achievement and reflects the dedication and commitment shown by athletes throughout the season.

Many athletes left Tullamore having reached new performance levels, providing plenty of encouragement for the future across every age group.
The club celebrated an exceptional level of qualification success, with U12-U16 athletes who secured a medal or achieved a fourth-place finish have earned qualification for the upcoming All-Ireland Juvenile Championships, which will take place over the coming weeks.
Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, officials from our club and our families who contributed to a memorable and highly successful two days in Tullamore.

Congratulations to Aisling Shevlin on achieving the European U18 400m standard for the second time!
Competing today at the Leinster Championships in Tullamore, Aisling produced a superb performance to claim gold in the U18 400m, crossing the line in an outstanding 55.29 seconds. In doing so, she not only secured the qualifying standard once again but also shattered the Leinster U18 record by almost two seconds

Join us this summer for an exciting Athletics Ireland Summer Camp. Open to children aged 9 –12 years, come and join us for this fun-filled camp which offers a fantastic introduction to athletics in a supportive and energetic environment.
Running Monday to Friday, 10am–2pm, children will get the chance to come and try athletics with Ratoath AC athletics Irelands juvenile Track and field club of the year! come along and experience a wide range of disciplines including sprints, hurdles, relays, and long jump.
Places are limited.

All taking part will Receive a T-shirt - Water Bottle and a Medal

Leinster Athletics Relay Championships
Ratoath Athletic Club enjoyed a hugely successful day at the Leinster Athletics Relay Championships in Carlow IT on Saturday. The popular event was filled with a great atmosphere, lots of team spirit and plenty of excitement as athletes of all ages were out to compete for their team in this competition.
The club produced an outstanding medal haul of 12 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze medals, with our relay teams delivering exceptional performances throughout the day. The highlight was the setting of three new Leinster Championship Records and the equalling of another and It was fantastic to see four Ratoath AC girls teams line up for the U17 & U19 4x400m relays all loving the team aspect of the relays.
The U15 Boys team of Rhys Mooney, Oliver Couch, Senan Honer and Jason Giurgila stormed to victory in the 4x100m relay in a Championship Record time of 48.07 seconds. The U16 Boys quartet of Nicholas De Antolin-Rodriguez, Oliver Couch, Elias Igwesi and Jason Giurgila raised the bar even further, breaking the Championship Record with an impressive 46.00 seconds. The U18 Boys team of Daniel De Antolin-Rodriguez, Hugo Watsham, GoodLuck Kamgba and Christopher Olatunde also etched their names into the record books, clocking a remarkable 44.84 seconds to secure gold and another Championship Record. Not to be outdone, the U17 Girls team of Jaiden Shaw Hanlon, Milana Sharhayeu, Alannah McNally and Nicole Doherty equalled the existing Championship Record with a winning time of 48.42 seconds.
Success continued with the uneven age 4x400m relays where the U17 Girls A team of Adrianna Hyrcza, Nicole Doherty, Holly Dowling and Milana Sharhayeu claimed gold in 3:59.75, while the U17 Girls B team of Lydia Jordan, Caroline Woods, Clodagh Reilly and Eliza Prior secured silver. The U17 Boys team of Hugo Watsham, Jack Meehan, Nicholas De Antolin-Rodriguez and Finn Carrigan also earned silver. In the older age groups, the U19 Girls A team of Oriana Knowd, Aisling Shevlin, Lily Flood and Aliyah Whelan Tully captured gold, while Olivia Ryan, Grace Connell, Ellen Sheridan and Claire Rogers added another silver for the club. The U19 Boys team of Nathan Mooney, Emmet Doyle, GoodLuck Kamgba and Sean O'Sullivan rounded off the event with a commanding gold medal performance.
The younger athletes also played their part in a wonderful day for the club. The U11 Boys secured silver, while the U11 Girls claimed bronze and fielded a second team that competed strongly. There were numerous top-ten finishes across the U9, U10, U12, U13 and U14 age groups, demonstrating the bright future ahead for Ratoath AC.
In the uneven age 4x100m relays, the U15 Girls A team earned silver, while the U17 Boys A team secured bronze. The U19 Girls won silver and the U19 Boys powered to gold in an impressive 44.41 seconds.
Further gold medals followed in the even age 4x400m relays. The U18 Girls A team of Lily Flood, Aisling Shevlin, Adrianna Hyrcza and Milana Sharhayeu produced an excellent display to take victory, while the U18 Girls B team won silver. The U18 Boys team of GoodLuck Kamgba, Hugo Watsham, Sean O'Sullivan and Christopher Olatunde added another gold medal with a superb performance.
The even age sprint relays brought more success. The U10 Boys won silver, while the U12 Girls A team captured gold. The U16 Girls team secured silver, and both the U18 Girls and U18 Boys teams claimed gold. The U16 Boys once again demonstrated their class by setting a Championship Record in the sprint relay, while the U18 Boys completed a remarkable double by adding a second Championship Record to their day's achievements.
Congratulations to all athletes who represented the club so well from the youngest competitors gaining valuable championship experience to the record-breaking relay squads producing performances of the highest standard, it was a great day for Ratoath Athletic Club.

A great day at Leinster Championships in Tullamore for our youngest athletes last weekend . Great to see athletes doing their best for the club, great support from the side lines and plenty of smiles all round.

U12B Sonny O Connell 60m made the final and placed 4th with a PB 8.87.
U12G Carly Mooney, Sarah Cleary, Ava McAuley, Sadie McDonald, Sarah O Campo and Amber Whelan 60m ran brilliantly, making semi-finals and running PBs. Carly Mooney made the final, finishing 4th overall in a very close finish.

U12G High Jump Amber Whelan Tully was joint 6th with a jump of 1.2m 👏🏻
U13B 600m Sam Reilly and Johnny Neary gave it their all and have made massive improvements over this distance. U13B High Jump Theo Dosunmu joint 3rd place 1.40m
U13B 80m Theo Dosunmu, Sam Reilly, Tim Ryan. Tim progressed to the semi-finals and ran a PB 11.97 on the day. Sam had a strong run, Theo made the final and ran his best with a run of 11.19. U13G Molly O'Doherty 600m made the final in a tough race, running well and had great support from the crowd.

U13G Annalise Mooney made the semi-final and ran 11.82 beating her heat time. Emma ran a great race 12.34

Irish Schools Track & Field Championships 2026 – Tullamore
Tullamore was the venue for another memorable day of athletics at the 2026 Irish Schools Track and Field Championships, with athletes from our club producing an outstanding series of performances while representing their schools on the national stage.
The highlight of the team competition saw the Junior Boys crowned team champions, while the Inter Girls produced a strong display to finish a close third overall. Relay success was also a major feature of the day, with the Junior Boys securing silver in the 4x100m relay and the Inter Girls claiming national gold. The performance of the Senior Boys 4x400m relay team was particularly remarkable as they not only won the title but shattered the championship record by more than four seconds, recording an impressive 3:22.90 to eclipse the previous record of 3:27.03 set in 2018.
There was no shortage of individual success throughout the championships. Jason Giurgila enjoyed an exceptional day, claiming gold in the Junior Boys 100m in 11.38 and adding a silver medal in the 200m with 23.32. Theo De Bonis Castleknock College also struck gold, producing a superb run of 10.98 to win the Inter Boys 100m title.
In the field events, Milana Sharhayeu took silver in the Inter Girls Triple Jump with a best jump of 11.41m, while Daniel De Antolin Rodriguez secured a silver medal in the Inter Boys Triple Jump with 13.24m.
Four bronze medals were also collected during the day. Emily Rose Ryan opened the medal tally with third place in the Minor Girls 100m, clocking 13.15. Jaiden Shaw Hanlon followed up a fifth-place finish in the Inter Girls 100m by claiming bronze in the 200m with 25.32. Milana Sharhayeu added a second medal to her collection with bronze in the Inter Girls 300m in 40.59, while Aisling Shevlin produced an excellent run of 56.08 to take bronze in the Senior Girls 400m.
Several athletes narrowly missed out on podium finishes with strong performances. Nicole Doherty finished fourth in both the Inter Girls 80m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles, while Cillian Conway was fourth in the Senior Boys 400m, setting a new personal best of 49.83. Lydia Jordan placed fifth in the Junior Girls 1500m, Millie Hoashi finished 3rd but was move to fifth after receiving a 30 second time penalty in the Inter Girls 2000m Walk and Sadhbh Fitzsimons was seventh in the Minor Girls 75m Hurdles. In the Senior Girls events, Aisling Shevlin added sixth place in the 400m Hurdles and Oriana Knowd finished seventh in the same race.
The relay events once again demonstrated the strength and depth of our athletes. The Junior Boys quartet of Oliver Couch, Jason Giurgila, Rhys Mooney and teammates combined to win silver in the 4x100m relay in 47.33, while the Ratoath College Inter Girls team captured national gold with a winning time of 49.20. The standout performance came from the Senior Boys 4x400m relay team of Darragh Roache, Cillian Doyle, Emmet Doyle and Hugo Watsham, whose championship record breaking victory capped a fantastic day for the club.
Alongside the medals and titles, there were numerous personal best performances recorded throughout the championships.

Congratulations to all who competed over the weekend in glorious sunshine, producing a fantastic display of performances across the Leinster U20, Senior and Masters Championships. There were superb results throughout the weekend, with PBs, club and championship records and European standards all achieved in a brilliant start to the Leinster Outdoor Championships.

A huge highlight came from Aisling Shevlin who secured the European U18 standard in the 400m on Saturday with an outstanding 55.33s before returning on Sunday to achieve another standard in the 400m Hurdles, clocking a superb 1:01.24. Christopher Olatunde also delivered a fantastic weekend of sprinting, reaching the European standard for the second time this month in his 200m heat with 21.73s before going even faster in the final, recording an impressive 21.69s.

Kayla Ryan produced a brilliant PB in the 800m at the IFAM Outdoor in Brussels, running 2:13.65, while Jesse Osas equalled his PB at the Stratford Speed GP with 10.51s in the 100m.
In the Leinster Masters Championships, John Wallace enjoyed an incredible medal haul, collecting eight gold medals and one bronze across his events.

Five club records were also broken over the weekend. Milana Sharhayeu soared out to 11.56m in the Triple Jump, Aisling Shevlin added the 400m Hurdles club record with 1:01.24, Christopher Olatunde set a new mark in the 200m with 21.69s, Ellen Sheridan clocked 7:10.76 in the U18 2000m Steeplechase, and James Kelly ran 1:55.78 in the 800m.
There was even more success as three Championship Records were broken by Ratoath AC athletes, with James Kelly in the 800m, Aisling Shevlin in the 400m Hurdles, and Aisling Stratford in the Senior 400m with a superb 54.16s performance.

An outstanding weekend all round and a brilliant start to the Leinster Outdoor Championships, finishing with an impressive medal tally of 8 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals for our Junior & senior athletes.
