Challenge Cycling Club Challenge CC is a Galway based cycling club catering for all abilities, covering Oranmore, Clarinbridge, Athenry and Craughwell New members always welcome

Challenge CC was born out of the desire to have a holistic approach to club cycling, with an emphasis on “Team” and rider development. Our objective is to have a club that genuinely caters for all of our members no matter what their individual needs or focus. We are a collective of leisure cyclists and racers, from beginners to advanced. Whether it’s a summer of Sportives and Adventures, or from C

lub Racing to Time Trials, maybe it’s getting promoted through the ranks of open racing. Whatever it is we will work together to make it the best experience possible and have fun along the way. The club has an access all areas policy, so if you fancy giving any particular area a go and are up for the “Challenge” there are no limitations! All spins and training sessions will be graded by average speed or other levels of difficulty so you know what to expect and can gauge based on your ability. If you're unsure about anything our senior members and Spin leaders are always there to give advice and lend a helping hand, so don’t be shy and get involved.

Another great weekend for cycling. First of all, a big shout out to Jim Treacy and his work colleagues for completing a 3-day Mizen to Malin cycle for breast cancer research. You can still help Jim reach his fundraising target at https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/jimtreacy356.
We also had our regular Sunday spins and our Community bike rides are continuing on Saturday mornings.

We would like to wish our club member Jim Treacy the best of luck as he takes on the epic challenge of Mizen 2 Malin cycle.

Jim, along with colleagues from Boston Scientific will begin tomorrow and do it over 3 days in aid of Breast Cancer Research. They have all been training really hard and we wish them all the very best.

This weekend had a definite feel of the changing of the seasons, with a drop in temperatures and the return of unfamiliar rain (Ah, but sure the grass needed it!). Smiles all round on the Sunday spin with a stop-off in Gort for coffee. We also continued our Community Bike Rides on Saturday, with a trip to The Filling Station in Athenry. We are delighted once again to be supporting the Bark & Ride Sportive, which takes place on Saturday Sep 26th, in aid of the Galway Branch Irish Guide Dogs.
With 3 distances to choose from - 125km, 90km and 60km, there is something there for everyone, with stunning scenery and a great cause to support. The event starts and finishes at The Connacht Hotel with bbq at the finish and food stops along the way.
