🏀🎖️Congratulations to Michelle Fahy on her induction into the Basketball Ireland Hall of Fame. Michelle was presented with her award at a ceremony in Naas yesterday, surrounded by family, friends and former teammates from across the country.
We are hugely proud of Michelle and incredibly fortunate to have her coaching in our club. She is widely regarded as the greatest post player in Irish basketball history, thanks to her outstanding achievements at collegiate, national league and international level.
During a distinguished career, Michelle won six Women’s Super League titles and five Paudie O’Connor National Cups with Glanmire and UL Huskies. She also played NCAA Division 1 basketball with Iona College in New York. Returning to Galway in 2015/16, Michelle helped Mystics claim their first national title, winning both the league and National Cup. After taking a break from the game, she returned with Maree and played a hugely influential role in the club winning the National Intermediate Cup.
Congratulations also to Adrian O’Neill, recipient of the Tom Collins Award; Karen Smyth; Mystics for their Social Media award; Hannah Coen, Connacht volunteer, Fortune Igbokwe, U20 Player of the Year; and Jack Considine, Underage Coach of the Year. A special mention as well to former Maree player Hazel Finn, who was named Young Women’s Super League Player of the Year.
