Founded in 1958, the Curragh Sub Aqua Club is one of the oldest clubs in Ireland

We are a Dublin based scuba diving club with our own fully equipped clubhouse in Sandycove. The Curragh is run by its members for the benefit of its members. We regularly go on weekends away and we dive three times a week in season, so we are a very active club. If you have previously tried diving and are looking to

dive for fun or you’re an experienced diver, joining a club is a great idea, it's very cost effective and gives you an opportunity to meet likeminded people enthusiastic about our adventure sport. Equally if you’ve never tried diving but you think it’s something you might be interested in, we have plenty of instructors that are on stand by to bring new comers through the training. Other than small registration fees and the cost of your log book the training to become a scuba diver is included in your membership. Even advance training is very cheap as all the instructors are volunteers.

🌊 A quick wrap-up from the last few months…

It’s been a flat-out few months of training, but we wanted to take a minute to look back and say a massive well done to everyone who finished their Mon 1 and Rescue Diver qualifications.

These courses take up a lot of weekends and a ton of hard work, so getting them over the line is a big deal.

Congratulations to Aine, Graham, Sarah, Stefano, John and Hugh 🎉🎉🎉

A big thanks to everyone who helped out with the courses, played casualties, or just sorted the tea and coffee on the surface. We’ve got a brilliant crew ready for the rest of the season.

The most important signal we give. 👌✨

In diving, the "OK" signal is everything. It’s how we check in, how we reassure our buddies, and how we know we’re all coming home safe.

Today, the Curragh dived for Darkness Into Light to remind everyone that it’s okay to not be okay—and that there is always a buddy ready to help you back to the surface.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us today. You’ve helped us raise vital funds to ensure support services are there for anyone who feels out of their depth.

Darkness Into Light is a reminder that you never have to face the dark alone. If you are struggling, please reach out to the professionals at Pieta. They are available 24/7.

A great weekend was had by all over in Galway. Despite the varied weather we made the most of it and got in a lot of diving, both shore and on the boats. A brilliant start to the dive season!

Who said Irish waters were just grey? 🇮🇪💎

A little glimpse of what’s waiting for us beneath the surface.

We are officially counting down to our Trainee Weekend this Easter! 🐣⚓️ There is nothing better than seeing our newest divers take their first giant stride into the open water. Who’s ready for a weekend of bubbles, plenty of liquid decompression, and hopefully a bit of April sunshine? ☀️

Let’s get those trainees qualified! 🎓🤿

🍀 Sláinte to the Salt! 🌊

The Curragh dive season is officially LIVE! 🔱

We spent the St. Patrick’s Day weekend putting the boats through their paces, making sure everything is mission-ready for the adventures ahead. While the hulls were being tested, our snorkelers were giving the Irish Sea a run for its money at Dalkey Island. 🚤💨

A massive "Well Done" to the snorkeling crew for tackling the mini-island swim. It’s safe to say the conditions were "lively," but you lot handled the big waves with serious grit.

With the boats prepped and the first swims under our belts, all eyes are now on Easter! * Trainee Weekend: We can’t wait to get our newest members out for their first big club trip.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to the whole Curragh family! ☘️🧜‍♂️

What’s the most important thing in your dive bag? 🎒🤔

Most people point to the shiny stuff: the fins, the dive computer, or the powerful dive torch that can cut through the darkest murky water.

But at the Curragh, we believe the most vital piece of "gear" is the one you can’t actually buy at a dive shop: Your ability to respond.

Think of CPR as the "software" that runs your safety hardware. You wouldn't head into a deep wreck or a night dive with a two-year-old, uncharged battery in your dive torch, so why dive with two-year-old medical protocols? 🔦🪫

Just like a torch needs fresh batteries to light the way, your rescue skills need an annual "charge" to stay bright. A yearly refresh ensures your life-saving "software" is glitch-free and ready to deploy. It’s the one tool in your toolkit that you hope stays at the bottom of the bag, but it’s the one you’ll be most grateful for if you ever have to switch it on.

Don't let your skills fade to black. Join us for our annual CPR refresh!

📍 Co. Clare

In the words of Dolly Parton “We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.”

CSAC travelled to Clare for the June Bank Holiday weekend to get some diving in, but big waves & big winds put a halt to our diving plans. All was not lost though, our weekend of diving turned into an impromptu walking holiday featuring a stop at Father Teds House and a lot of time spent staring at some truly massive waves 🌊💙
