All divers please read the below and show your support.

Hi Guys,

You may not be aware of this but there is a new Master PLan and a new National Watersports Campus Plan for Dun Laoghaire Harbour. They have some cross over but are separately funded. I was approached by DLRCC a while back to look at the proposals for the area and to what impact this would have for diving in the area.

Already diving at Sandycove has been affected by the removal of parking facilities. The area is now catering for cycling with significant car spaces removed. In addition there was the renovation of the sea baths at Dun Laoghaire. Unlike the baths in Clontarf, the Dun Laoghaire baths have no water. The renovation of the pool involved filling in the pool and renovating the coffee shop.

We are now fighting hard with DLRCC to have our concerns addressed and attached is our draft submission if you are interested. To be honest, we have good support within the council. We just need to prove that there is an interest and need for the facilities to be put in place.

Therefore, we aim to show DLRCC how many divers we have in Ireland. If you could copy and paste the text below in blue and email it to [email protected]
we'd really appreciate it. If you are a club member please feel free to circulate this to them and see if we can get as many as possible to email DLRCC.

Please put in the subject bar. - DUN LAOGHAIRE HARBOUR MASTERPLAN SUBMISSION

My name is _______________. I am an active diver. I believe that Dun Laoghaire plays an essential role for divers in the community and I believe the following facilities for divers should be considered for any plans relating to the development of the harbour area.

Parking
Trailer parking
Slipway access
Changing rooms
Outdoor rinse areas and drying areas
Boat moorings and pontoons
Compressor facilities
Training pool
Boatwash area
Boat lift

Thank You

Daryl

Hi Guys, Damian who works in Pieta house is a regular diver with Triton Diving. Last year he suggested that we do a Darkness into light Dive in aid of Pieta House. Although, we had short notice (1 week 😂) we got three boats and 18 divers together. So this year we are looking to get more divers and boats involved. If you are a diver or have a dive boat and interested in getting involved please contact myself (086 255 9659) or Daryl (085 705 8585).
LOCATION - Coal Harbour, Dun Laoighre
DATE: Sat, 11th May, 2024

Any donations can be made through the link below which is managed by Damian Menendez of Pieta House.

Thank you,
