St. Mary's 7-3 Springfield Ramblers

An excellent home performance saw St. Mary's take the 3 league points on offer tonight.
A cagey start saw Mary's miss numerous chances before Springfield took the lead with their first effort. But their lead was short lived when Sahil Shaikh finished superbly to the roof of the net. Riley Hourigan made in 2-1 five minutes later after great work from Riley Merlehan. But Springfield equalised soon after after a defensive mix-up. 2-2 at HT.
Blake Morey struck shortly after the break with a great left foot shot. Two more goals from Sahil made the game virtually safe at 5-2. Springfield had their moments, hitting the crossbar from a free, and skimming the post with a shot from a tight angle. A fortuitous goal did make it 5-3, before two more St. Mary's goals from Hourigan and Sahil settled the issue.
Some exceptional performances tonight all over the pitch. Charlie Duffy was a dominant man of the match at centre-half. Riley Merlehan was outstanding on the right wing. Mason Heaphy played the world of ball in midfield, with some brilliant trademark passes. Sahil, of course, was great again, with his strike partner Blake Morey putting in an exhausting shift.
So, two games left, and let's keep it going lads! Great stuff by all again tonight! 👏

CSL U14 Div 7
Corinthians 3-5 St. Mary's

An exciting comeback in terrible conditions saw St. Mary's take all three points this morning in Castletreasure.
St. Mary's started slowly, choosing to play against the strong wind and rain. Corinthians took control with two early strikes before Sahil Shaikh got one back. Mary's were right back in it and unlucky not to score a couple more, before conceding again before HT. 3-1 at the break to the home side.
But the second half was a different story, with Mary's taking over completely. Blake Morey made it 3-2 with 17 mins remaining, and obliged again 5 mins later to level matters. Dominant now all over the pitch, Blake completed his quick-fire hat-trick with 7 mins left. And the relentless Sahil capped off a great performance with another goal, chasing down what seemed like a lost cause. 5-3 to St. Mary's at the final whistle!!
A great overall display today, especially in the second half, with standout efforts from Sahil, Blake, Riley Merlehan and Mason Heaphy. Charlie Duffy was excellent in the middle, supported by Jake Carey. Davin Healy O'Leary stood firm at the back, and Riley Hourigan was his usual reliable self as replacement goalkeeper.
But a great overall display in the second period especially, and a fantastic victory. 👏
Let's keep it up for the final few games of the season!

Our Seniors booked their place in this Sunday’s O’Connell Cup Final after coming out on the right side of a thrilling seven-goal encounter against College Corinthians.

Dan Ryan opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Neil Cunningham doubled our advantage on the stroke of half-time, finishing off a spectacular team move.

We started the second half strongly and Cunningham grabbed his second of the night with a wonderful turn and finish following another well-worked attack. Corinthians responded with a fine long-range strike to pull one back, but Jakub Gaup restored our cushion with a lovely glancing header.

The visitors refused to go away and struck twice more before injury time to set up a nervy finale, but our lads stood firm and saw the game out to secure their place in the final.

Attention now turns to Sunday, where we take on Rockmount in what promises to be a cracking cup final. Well done boys 🤍🖤
