πŸ’‘ Children thrive on challenge. When activities are too easy, boredom can set in quickly and engagement drops.

Keep players thinking, solving problems and making decisions. Adjust the challenge, add conditions, create competitions and reward creativity.

The most enjoyable sessions aren't always the busiestβ€”they're the ones where every player is challenged at the right level and fully involved.

Be creative. Keep it fresh. Keep them engaged. 🎯

🎯 Be Clear. Be Purposeful. Be Consistent.

Every training session should have a clear focus.

If the key skill is Hurling: passing, make sure that skill appears throughout your activities and games.

πŸ‘ Example:
Conditioned Game: Teams must complete 3 passes before a score can be taken.

This simple condition:
βœ… Increases passing opportunities
βœ… Encourages players to look up and support
βœ… Reinforces the skill under pressure
βœ… Links the drill to the game

Too often, we coach a skill in isolation and then move into a game where players can ignore it completely.

Make the skill the solution to the challenge.

Ask yourself:
πŸ‘‰ What is today's key skill?
πŸ‘‰ How will players practise it?
πŸ‘‰ How will it appear in the game?

Train it. Condition it. Reward it.

FULL TIME | DEVELOPMENT GAME πŸ’ͺ🟠 2.13 / 2.11

A brilliant contest in Clondrohid this evening, with both teams serving up an excellent game of football played at a high intensity throughout.

Credit to Carbery/Beara for a competitive and sporting encounter. These development games provide a fantastic opportunity for players to challenge themselves, learn, and continue their progression.

Well done to our players for the work rate, attitude, and determination shown from first whistle to last. Plenty of positive performances and valuable lessons to take forward as preparations continue.

Thanks to all who came along to support the lads.

βœ… Praise the attempt, not just the outcome.
βœ… Encourage communication between players.
βœ… Recognise effort, attitude and teamwork.
βœ… Use players' names and give specific feedback.

A player who hears positive, constructive communication throughout training is more likely to stay engaged, grow in confidence and keep striving to improve.

The words we use as coaches can have a lasting impact. Make every interaction count.

🟠⚫ You don’t need to be the biggest, the loudest, or the best β€” yet.

Every player develops at their own pace.

The most important thing is to keep turning up, keep learning, and keep enjoying the game.

Progress isn't always measured by scores or trophies. Sometimes it's the extra skill mastered, the confidence gained, the friend made, or simply the courage to keep trying.

At Duhallow GAA Coaching, we believe that every training session is an opportunity to grow β€” as a player and as a person.

🟠 Turn up
🟠 Enjoy it
🟠 Keep improving
🟠 Respect everyone

Because when young players enjoy the journey, the progress will follow.
