CLONES GOLF CLUB CLASSIC RESULTS

67 Teams competed in this year’s Classic over 3 days and a massive thanks to all sponsors ABP, Clones Credit Union, Go Solar, IJM Timber Frame, Feldhues, Liptons, Upstairs Downstairs, The Window Woman, Avenue Pharmacy and many more, and thank you for all the hard work of the organising committee

The results are Ladies 1st: Collette McCahery (21), Rosita McCabe (15), Eileen Maguire (24), Brid Finlay (20) with 92. 2nd Lady Captain Paula Granaghan 32, Eileen Fitzpatrick 39, Roberta Hamilton 17, Roisin Kerr 13 with 88, 3rd Geraldine McGoohan, Tanya MCaffrey, Paula Granaghan 32 Teresa Hanawin (33)with 86.

The overall winning team were 1st Henry Hipwell (9), Jim Cleary (29), David Gibson (21), David Mullins (26) with 105,

2nd Jim Farraher (8) Jim Murray (28) Vincent Brady (21) Stephen Dunne (19) with 104.

3rd Patricia Jones (37) Maria Boyle (29) Theresa McEntee (46) Martina McCabe (46) with 102.

4th Brian Morgan (27) Denis Parker (28) Joseph Smith (16) Richard Parker (15) with 100

and 5th Captain Pauric (14)
Tommy O Harte (17) Pat Ryan (17) Paddy McKeown (8) with 99 points.

Nearest the pins were Gaby Kerr 2nd & 4th, Bernard Mulligan 10th, Pat Ryan and Martin Clegg joint winners on the 13th!

Classic Raffle Winners

Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets for the Classic fundraiser. The winners were Leo Rooney, Niamh Sheehan, Harry Pahir, Jack Greer and Maeve Gibson.

Lotto

The numbers drawn on the 31st August were 12, 14, 28 and 30 and there were no winners of the 2,200 jackpot now rolled over to 2.300. The 5 lucky dippers, each winning 20, were Brad McCusker Online, Eddy Sherry Online, Tony Fitzpatrick Ture, Dermott McCrystal C/O Phil and Gerard Ward Frank’s Bar. Well done to them!

Ladies Golfer of The Year 2026

The Ladies played their final Golfer of the Year competition last week and it really was right down to the last stroke and huge congratulations go to Roisin Kerr (HI 12.2) a great achievement !! Lady Captain Paula Granaghan was runner up.

MENS' CAPTAIN'S DAY 2026

In perfect golfing conditions, one hundred and forty golfers took to the fairways of the beautiful Hilton Park Golf Course in Clones to honour Captain Paraic Geoghegan on his Captain’s Day. As each group returned to the Clubhouse, many had the same ‘what might have been’ stories to tell. Captain Paraic was there to welcome them all back in where they were treated to refreshments. At the end of the day, when all the cards had been returned, only Eythan Audley, the Competitions’ Secretary knew who had emerged victorious and those names were only revealed following a wonderful Captain’s Dinner. This was an evening when members of Paraic’s family, invited guests and golfing friends got to celebrate a very successful year for the Captain, and indeed for Clones Golf Club.

Secretary of the Men’s Club, Tommy McCormick was MC for the night and he, President Paul Jenkins and Lady Captain Paula Grannaghan paid tribute to Paraic on his successful year to date. Thanks to Aiden and his crew, a beautiful meal was served and the winners were announced. The list of winners was as follows:

The evening was rounded off with some excellent music and dancing and late into the night as members made their way home, all could reflect on a very enjoyable day’s golfing.

CAPTAIN'S DAY - Paraic Geoghegan

Best wishes to Captain Paraic on his Captains Day Saturday 22nd August.

Time sheet is now on the men’s club golf forum and also in the men’s locker room. Draw will take place on Thursday.

Arrangements for Captain Paraic evening. Presentation of Prizes will be at 9pm with dancing from 10pm.
