Castleconnell Boat Club was established in 1983 and is located on the river Shannon and stretches from the weir at the World's End all the way to O'Briensbridge.

We’re incredibly proud to welcome Minister for Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, to Castleconnell Boat Club for a special boat naming & blessing ceremony.

Founded in 1983, CCBC has been built by generations of members, families and volunteers. This evening is a chance to celebrate that legacy and come together for the start of a new season. ❤️
All current and past members, Juniors, parents, Masters, Seniors and friends are warmly invited.

📣Coaching Team Recruitment 📣
As we get ready to kick off the new season, we’re looking to expand our coaching team!
We’re looking for assistant coaches to regularly work with our Junior 12–15 squads and help develop the next generation of rowers.
🎓 Want to get qualified?
If you’re interested in completing your Level 1 Coaching Course, the club wants to support you. Regular coaching hours are required to apply, and the club will cover the cost of the course for members who commit to assisting regularly.
Whether you’ve already got some coaching experience or you’re completely new and keen to get started, we’d love to hear from you!

🏆 Back-to-back champions! 🏆
A huge congratulations to our WJ14 and WJ15 squads on winning the Rowing Ireland / Waterways Ireland Row for It League 2026 for the second year in a row!
At J14 and J15 level, this is truly a whole squad achievement. Crews change from regatta to regatta, and with straight finals, every race and every crew has the chance to score valuable league points. This league win reflects the commitment, determination and teamwork shown by the entire squad throughout the season.
After five competitive rounds of racing, clubs and crews from across the country battled it out one final time for those valuable league points, with the overall standings decided in Carrick. Our girls and boys travelled north determined to make sure of their league wins—and they did just that! 💪
A massive thank you to Waterways Ireland for their continued support of the Row for It League and rowing clubs across the island.
A special thank you also to our dedicated coaches, Frank Cosgrove, Annemarie Ryan and James Harrington, whose commitment makes achievements like this possible. And thank you to all our amazing parents and supporters who give their time, encouragement and practical help every step of the way. This success belongs to all of you.
Congratulations again to every rower who contributed to another outstanding season. Castleconnell Boat Club is incredibly proud of you! ❤️🩶

🇮🇪A Proud Day for Castleconnell! 🇮🇪
Congratulations to Daniel Hickey on his selection to represent Ireland at the Home International Rowing Regatta in London.
Daniel’s journey from the waters of the River Shannon with Castleconnell Boat Club to wearing the Irish jersey is a wonderful example of what dedication, and hard work can achieve. His selection is not only a tremendous personal achievement but also a proud moment for his family, his coaches, his club and the entire Castleconnell community.
We wish Daniel and all of Team Ireland every success as they compete against England, Scotland and Wales. Enjoy every moment—your community is cheering you on every stroke of the way!

Best of luck to our own Shane Ryan as he represents Ireland at the Home International Regatta at the London Docklands tomorrow! 🇮🇪
A proud member of Castleconnell Boat Club, Shane has overcome incredible challenges throughout his rowing career. Living with a visual impairment caused by Bardet–Biedl syndrome, he discovered rowing through Vision Sports Ireland and has gone on to represent Ireland with distinction on the international para-rowing stage.
A Paralympian, Shane has proudly worn the Irish vest at the highest level of the sport, inspiring countless people through his commitment, resilience and determination. He is also the first blind rower to complete an Atlantic crossing, spending 54 days at sea as part of a five-person crew in an extraordinary challenge that showcased his courage, endurance and teamwork.
We’re also especially proud that Shane will be coached by our very own Joe Cunningham, who is part of the Irish coaching team for the Home International Regatta. It is a fantastic honour for both Shane and Joe to represent their country on the international stage.
Everyone at Castleconnell Boat Club is immensely proud of everything Shane has achieved, both on and off the water. We know you’ll both represent your club and your country with the passion, dedication and commitment that define Castleconnell Boat Club ❤️🩶

🇮🇪 Best of luck to Alex Kennedy as he heads to Lucerne to compete at the Coupe de la Jeunesse! 💚🤍🧡
Alex has been rowing at CCBC since his cadet days and has gone from strength to strength. We couldn’t be prouder to see him step onto the international stage, representing Ireland at the Coupe de la Jeunesse.
Alex will race in the Men’s Junior Sweep as stroke of the crew alongside teammates Eoghan O’Connell (JES), Bobby Heffernan (Shandon) and Eoin Fitzpatrick (Neptune).
The crew has been coached by Derek Bowen and has put in an incredible amount of work training at the World’s End in Castleconnell Boat Club. Derek is also serving as Team Leader at the Coupe, making it an extra special occasion for everyone involved.
We’ll be tuning in to cheer them on this Saturday and Sunday and can’t wait to see them in action. Race time: SAT 09:05 🇮🇪SUN at 08:05 🇮🇪

What a fantastic way to wrap up their season! 🌊☀️🏖️
Our J14/15 boys enjoyed an unforgettable end-of-season day out at the Ring Coastal Regatta on Duneen Beach. With beautiful weather, exciting racing, and plenty of fun, it was the perfect way to celebrate a great season together.
A huge congratulations to Jude Jennings, Oisín O’Brien, Cillian Hammon, James Buckley, Frazer Dukes, and Finn Harrington for representing the club so proudly throughout the event.
Special thanks to Coach James Harrington, who has led this group through a fantastic season. It’s been brilliant to see the boys grow stronger, develop their skills, and, most importantly, enjoy every minute on the water together.
A big thank you to Ring Coastal RC for the warm welcome, excellent organisation, and support. We had a brilliant day and look forward to seeing you again!

☀️Day 3 of the Irish National Rowing Championships ☀️
Another beautiful day in Ovens at the NRC, it certainly lived up to its name this weekend! There was a pleasant breeze but with that, it did make racing even more challenging for all of these incredible athletes.
We are immensely proud of every single rower. As a community, we know the hard work that goes into this sport. We know the commitment it demands, the countless hours invested, and the unwavering support from families, coaches, volunteers, and teammates. Every single person at NRC has played a part in building that strength, and it is truly amazing to see all these clubs come together. Many thanks to Ireland and all the volunteers this weekend!
❤️ Our first CCBC rower on the water today was Charlie McLoughlin in the J16 Single Scull, getting the day’s racing off to a fantastic start.
❤️ Our Women’s Club 2 1x enjoyed a beautiful morning on the water. There were plenty of happy smiles, with both rowers inspired and excited to continue developing their skills as they look ahead to Championships 2027.
❤️ Next up was our Men’s Club 2 8+ crew. This incredible boat brings together junior and masters rowers, perfectly showcasing what rowing is all about—rowing for life. Every seat in this crew tells a story of dedication, teamwork, and a shared love for the sport.
❤️ Our Men’s J18 Coxed Four (4+) coxed by Aoife Bowen produced a superb performance in their heat, staying right with JES throughout the race. It wasn’t to be their day, with JES taking the win back to Galway, but our crew can be incredibly proud of their effort and determination.
❤️ Our Para rowers, Shane Ryan and Shane O’Malley, were next to take on the challenging conditions. Shane O’Malley powered down the course with great strength and consistent momentum, while Shane Ryan handled the strong winds brilliantly, keeping his boat composed throughout. Watching both athletes cross the finish line was a fantastic moment and a testament to their resilience.
Another memorable day at the Irish National Rowing Championships. Congratulations to all of our athletes—we couldn’t be prouder of every one of you. ❤️🩶
