FIGJAM Ultimate

Has it only been 10 years since our first World Championship silver medal? My back tells me it’s been fifty.

After winning the Canadian Ultimate Championships in 2013 we became singularly focused on putting the best team on the field in Lecco to win the World Ultimate Club Championships 2014. While we didn't get the gold we came much closer than many people (perhaps even ourselves) thought possible.

Over the past week we faced some of the toughest teams we've ever faced, and we rose to the challenge. We faced delays, injuries, exhaustion, come from behind wins, and losses too.

In the end we finished with a 7-2 record, ending our run in the World Championship finals 8-17 against Boneyard from the USA, capturing a silver medal.

Some of the team got together last night to say thank you to Artie, Dobber, Matt, and Ethan. It was truly a team effort this year and our silver medal was built off the field leading up to Ireland.

It was so great to share stories, catch up, and dream about the future. Huge shout out to everyone who wasn't able to be there in person.

FIGJAM are silver medalists in the Grand Master Open division at the 2022 WFDF 2022 World Overall Flying Disc Championships!

We battled injuries, covid, sore bodies, missed flights and sleepless nights to ultimately finish 2nd in the world!

Thanks especially Chris, Dobber, and JRuss for running the team and making this all possible.

We'd like to thank you to all of our family, friends, and fans for the support, encouragement, and being there throughout this tournament!

After 5 days and 8 games, FIGJAM has one game left...in the gold medal game against Surly (USA) on Canada Day!

We fought so hard in our semifinal game against Black Cans and Highlands (USA) and got redemption from our loss to them on Monday by winning 15-11 and securing our spot in the final of Grand Master Open at the 2022 WFDF World Masters Ultimate Club Championships!

We will be on the livestream again at 6pm local time (11am Calgary time) tomorrow, Friday July 1!

FIGJAM is into the semi-finals! With a 15-12 win over Shadows (USA), we now have a rematch against Black Cans (USA), who we played on Monday and had a great battle until the end on a universe point loss.

Day 4 at the 2022 WFDF World Masters Ultimate Club Championships for FIGJAM.

We had our final game of pool play and needed a win to secure our spot in the quarterfinals.

We started slow but went on a 13-1 run with some hard fought defense and really patient handler movement to secure the win, 15-4.

Based on the results from the other games, we finished 3rd in our pool and face Shadows (USA) in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 1pm. A win puts us into semis at 5pm and potentially our first livestreamed game!

We had a nice relaxing evening which included watching the ladies from Berta win on turf.

Day 3 for FIGJAM at the 2022 WFDF World Masters Ultimate Club Championships was a more relaxed day, with having to only play 1 game, and not having it start until 3pm.

We have a lot of sore and hurting bodies, so we had a shorter line for today's game. It was a must win game, being our only shot at having a chance at making quarterfinals.

We faced Quarantine (CAN), and came out firing on all cylinders, scoring 5 points in a row, all on defense.

We took half 8-2, and then the wind picked up a bit, making upwind points tough for both teams.

We were able to close it out though...Final score, 15-8.

Tomorrow we have our final round robin game - a win means we secure a spot in the quarter finals!

Day 2 at the 2022 WFDF World Masters Ultimate Club Championships.

FIGJAM had a tough second day, but there were also a lot of positives.

We played 2 games again and came out with 2 losses, both of them on universe point.

In our first game of the day, we played Tombstone, another Canadian team, and battled the entire game. They took half 8-7 but we battled back in the second half and tied it at 13-13, next point wins (universe). We started on defense, which is always a disadvantage and they were able to work it in clean for the win, 14-13.

In our second game, we played Black Cans and Highlands from the USA. This was another battle, and again they took half 8-7. Again we battled back in the second half and tied it at 12-12, universe point. Again, we were on defense. Again, they worked it in clean for the 13-12 win.

Where that puts us - we have a must win game tomorrow against Quarantine from Canada. At this point, every game is a must win game. Only one more round robin game left on Wednesday before we move into the quarterfinals on Thursday - which is where we intend to be.

More rain today but thankfully a good bit of sun too!

We gained a lot of experience today with the two losses that will help us in the bigger games coming up. We know what we are capable of - we saw it in the first game against Johnny Walker - so it's time we start putting it together.

Today was the first day for FIGJAM at the 2022 WFDF World Masters Ultimate Club Championships and we had a dream start, going 2-0!

In our first game, we played the #1 seed Johnny Walker (USA) and battled hard through lots of rain and wind for a big win 15-13!

In our second game, although the wind was considerably stronger, we came out strong and played clean for a 15-0 win over SG Uncles (Singapore).

Tomorrow we play Tombstone (CAN) and Black Cans and Highlands (USA) - looking forward to some more battles!
