Best of luck to Asia and James who are competing in Cork this weekend at the Cork Harbour Festival & Ocean to City. They are Partners both on and off the Water. Asia's first contact with rowing was as a facilitator of a group of kids with additional needs ran by Get Going Get Rowing through her job as a Physiotherapist . After a few short weeks she figured out that what looked simple was very complicated. Her remarkable Journey started in 2021 as a recreation rower and from there she transitioned seamlessly to Masters groups which led to sitting in Club boats with St. Michael's Rowing Club (SMRC) Ladies, and this year Asia will represent St. Michaels Rowing club at the Rowing Ireland National Championships at the tender age of 48, She is a most capable and determined woman & In James she has the best support she could dream of, from carrying boats to winning in them.
James who hails from Ballingarry in Co Limerick met and quickly fell in love with Asia in 2024 and soon realised that in order to see more of her he needed to hop into a boat with her. So his journey also began in earnest and with the help of Joe Cunningham from Castleconnell Boat Club who gave time energy and patience along with former Olympian Shane Ryan, James has made huge progress despite being an amputee. he has a 100% racing record so far with 2 entries at CCBC regatta last Sunday and 2 wins.

Good luck to our former coach and leader, James Mangan who’s new club RowAmerica Greenwich, located on the Mianus River in Greenwich, Connecticut is competing in the prestigious Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia today. James started there as head head coach in september.

Also a shout out to Bish Rowing Club who are competing also.
