Our overall winner this week was none other than our very own Lady Captain Angela Gartlan. Great to see our Lady Captain playing some great golf.
Playing off 16, Loraine Delkos took the top spot in Division 1 with a great back nine.
Siobhan Hand, another solid golfer, placed top of Division 2.

Rita O'Loughlin came out on top overall with a steady 36pts in some tough weather conditions.
Gill Rouiller finished top of Division 1 with 33pts.
Noreen Murphy placed top of Division 2 with 32pts.

Mannan Castle Seniors

Huge congratulations to Patsy Hoey, the worthy winner of President Joe Mullen's Prize to the Seniors last Tuesday.

Patsy was presented with his prize at the main prize giving event in the clubhouse at the weekend. It was great to see him once again on the podium and he was indeed a very popular winner.

Tuesday 2nd June - 9 Hole Competition
In the weekly seniors competition there were no less than five players tied on 21 points for the nine holes.

As there were four prizes it was inevitable that there would be one disappointed golfer. Sean O'Hagan (PH20) proved to be the one to lose out.

Overall victory fell to Peter Sloan (PH14) by the slenderest of margins over Jimmy McMahon (PH10) who had the consolation of the division 1 prize.

Division 2 winner was Paddy Archbold (PH11) with Peter Finnegan (PH17) taking division 3 on countback.

Tuesday 9th June - 13 Hole Competition
The pin positions for Mannan Castle Seniors weekly competition were challenging resulting in moderate scoring.

Played over 13 holes Peter Sloan (PH27) was the sole competitor to score above his handicap with 27 points. Unfortunately for Peter he was penalised 3 points for his victory the previous week and lost out on countback for division 3.

Sean O'Hagan (PH38) made up for his disappointment last week by taking division 3 on countback from Peter Sloan, Eddie Rouiller (PH25) and Sam Duffy (PH30) with 24 points.

The overall prize went to Fergal Brady (PH11) on countback with 26 points. After only scoring 7 points over the first 5 holes Fergal had five successive pars to accumulate a further 14 points.

Division 2 was won by Club President Joe Mullen (PH22) on 26 points. Joe recovered well after not scoring on hole 10 by accumulating 9 points on his final three holes.

Patsy Hoey (PH17) also scored 26 points but was penalised 2 points for previous wins. His nett 24 points was enough for victory in division 1.

Hard luck to our Jimmy Bruen Team captained by Oran Martin.
Mannan Castle were defeated by Murvagh/ Co. Donegal 3/1.
The matches were close, this team put up a good fight, but Donegal were better on the day, it was a tough day to play golf, I'm sure everyone playing yesterday are still trying to dry out.
