โš“ Bray Harbour Day 2026 โš“

Weโ€™re proud to be part of the very first Bray Harbour Day this Saturday, May 9th from 1pm at Bray Harbour.

For over a century, Bray Harbour has been home to a strong community on the water, and this year the harbour clubs are coming together to celebrate everything that makes it special.

As Bray Rowing Club begins an exciting new chapter at the harbour, weโ€™re delighted to participate in this great event alongside:
โ›ต Bray Sailing Club
๐ŸŽฃ Bray Sea Anglers
โšœ๏ธ 5th Wicklow Bray Sea Scouts

Come down and experience the atmosphere around the harbour, meet members from all four clubs, and learn more about the water sports and activities available right here in Bray.

With hundreds of young people and families already involved across the harbour clubs, this is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the growing water sports community in Bray.

A really important step forward for inclusive rowing here in Bray ๐Ÿ‘

The club as well as other water sport clubs in the area will be gaining new accessibility equipment at Bray Harbour โ€” including a beach wheelchair and portable hoist โ€” will make it far easier for people with disabilities to access the water and get into boats safely.

For members of Bray Rowing Club like Keith, getting into a boat has often meant being manually lifted โ€” something that isnโ€™t always safe, practical, or independent. This new equipment directly addresses that barrier and will make a huge difference to day-to-day training and participation.

Massive credit to Councillor Caroline Winstanley whose efforts and advocacy have helped drive this forward and bring about real, meaningful change for the club and wider harbour community.

The equipment will be shared across all Bray Harbour clubs, opening up opportunities not just in rowing, but across multiple water sports.

This is exactly the kind of progress that makes our sport stronger โ€” more accessible, more inclusive, and open to everyone.

Huge thanks to Bray Sailing Club for hosting, and to 5th Wicklow Bray Sea Scouts and Bray Sea Anglers for the warm welcome they all gave us into Bray Harbour โ€” proud to be part of this community ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

Full article: A reception hosted by Bray Sailing Club marked a warm welcome for Bray Rowing Club, following the clubโ€™s new premises allocation by Wicklow County Council.

Held at the Sailing Club last weekend, the event celebrated the growing community of water-based organisations at Bray Harbour. Representatives from 5th Wicklow Bray Sea Scouts and Bray Sea Anglers also attended, signalling a unified front among the four voluntary harbour-based clubs.

Bray Sailing Club Commodore John Treanor praised the Councilโ€™s decision to repurpose the vacant harbour building for water sports:

โ€œWe are delighted that the vacant building in the harbour has been allocated to a water-based club and congratulate the members of Wicklow County Council on their wise decision,โ€ he said.
He added, โ€œWe hope that the arrival of our new neighbours will highlight the importance of our harbour to the local community.โ€

Bray Rowing Club Chairperson John Curran responded with gratitude.

โ€œThe members of Bray Rowing Club are delighted to have received such a warm welcome... we look forward very much to becoming a part of the harbour usersโ€™ community.โ€

The event served not only to welcome the Rowing Club but to strengthen cooperation between all four groups operating from Bray Harbourโ€”sailing, rowing, scouting, and sea angling.
