I shared this pic on my stories the other day and it warrants a post.
Michelle and I have been friends for years and our friendship goes way back to the 80’s when I started to attend her aerobic classes at St Margaret’s. She was a trail blazer, the original aerobic queen and invented rave aerobics long before clubbercise was even a thing.
She was my inspiration and encouraged me to qualify as an exercise to music teacher. We worked the local community centres and even covered each other’s classes when we had our babies.
This June I will have been qualified for 30 years. I continued on my journey in the fitness industry pretty much qualifying in everything. I managed private clubs and leisure centres, developed the group exercise programme from scratch at Waterworld where I was fitness manager for around 15 years.
I now tutor and mentor the next generation and aspire to inspire others the way Michelle did for me.
This picture is a reminder that we are all winners when we lift up and support each other. A friendship like this is deeply connected to love, respect and genuinely wanting the other to thrive and reach their full potential.
As I reflect on my career, I believe I have inspired many of my class participants to qualify and start teaching their own classes. And for all of my participants just to believe in themselves and build in confidence every day.
I also hope that I can instil this ethos in the instructors and coaches I teach in my workshops, that they can inspire others too.
Much love 🫶🏼
